BAK Revolver X4s tonneau cover install issues

Received the tonneau cover yesterday. Of course I ran into issues and could use some input since Bak Industries won't be open until Monday.
My biggest problem is the rails appear to be too long and I can't shut the tailgate. The rails can't be pushed any further forward than they are. I'm thinking that maybe I'm supposed to be using shims under the rails (which I didn't get), but that unfinished end with sharp corners doesn't seem right to me.
I'd appreciate experienced input and even some pictures of installs that work correctly.
Thanks!

That looks to be too long. When I had my BAK revolver the Rails were flush on the end. There were no shims under them. Might wait to speak with them.

Your tailgate should close under the rail. They’re long like that by design. May need to slightly bend them up? Or can they be installed slightly higher? My truck has ram boxes so the mounting approach is different.

I just installed the same cover and I'm not happy with the fitment either. One side is perfectly flush and the other side is too high. I am waiting to hear from BAK.

I thought I'd hear from them today but it didn't happen.
I reckon I'm going to end up raising the tonneau rails enough for them to clear the tailgate. Not too jazzed about the excess hanging out. That corner sticking out looks like something just waiting to reach out and make me bleed.
If I'm able to jink it around to the point everything clears, rolls up and latches like it should, I may simply round those corners off.
