Bak Revolver X4S install on a 2019 2500 long box - big gaps at sides?

The pics are from before I installed the extra shims and also cut them and the originals in half to install even more. I realize it's not centered, this was during the initial install just to show that it's obviously never going to be 1/8" in gap on either side as it was.

Has anyone else installed this tonneau cover on an HD with a long box? The cover just seems far too narrow for the long box in general, and more so at the center of the side rails. Too narrow as in probably 1/2" of a gap on each side when they say it should be max 1/8" gap on both sides. It's too narrow to the point that it literally has fallen off the rails on it's own. I've gotten it half decently installed, at least so that it won't fall off anymore, but it just doesn't seem right.

Looking down the length of the side rail of the box, the sides of the box seem to sort of "bow out" near the center on both sides. I figured this was normal since this truck has never been in any accidents, plus I replaced the side rail caps before installing the cover and they snapped in exactly as they should with no bending to get them to fit.

The installation manual says to contact them for more shims if the gap is too large, but after getting them it still wasn't enough. I ended up cutting all the original shims and the extra shims in half to have even more to use, and it still wasn't enough. I literally have 2-3 layers of shims down the entire length on both sides. I contacted them again and they just sent the same pre-written email to send in pics, receipt, etc.

Anyways, has anyone else experienced this? Feels like they designed the cover for a shorter box then just extended it for the long box without doing any extra measurements.

Ive installed 3 of their roll-ups, but none on a long bed. Just the same, they had to remake one, I modded another and the 3rd fit w/o issues.

Yours looks like they need to remake it, bc even w shims you’ll never close that gap.

I sent in these exact pictures at their request as part of their pre-written email reply, and they just sent more shims. May be time to talk to an actual person and get some further actions. Damn. I had high hopes for this after seeing others' success with this or other Bak products.

What happened with this? I ask because I’m going to install the same one.

Thanks

I have a short bed, but the same cover. Mine fit perfectly. They are the same width whether long bed or short. No clue why you'd need shims or even have a different width unless it was a manufacturing defect. I'd demand a replacement.

Sorry I was away for work.

Called them just now and quickly explained my situation and the lady immediately said "yep, must be a manufacturing defect, we'll send you a new one". I'll do some measurements of my truck box and the bad cover so you can confirm fitment before you even try putting it on.

Thanks a lot. That’s awesome of you.

Sorry for the delay. Haven't measured my truck box yet, but the bad cover is 61-9/16" from tooth to tooth - the part that receives the actual latch that rotates up when the end of the cover is pushed down.
