I'm trying to undo what the previous owner of my truck did. The backup camera was moved from the tailgate handle to next to the license plate.
Can someone confirm for me the wiring to this camera? I believe they either removed a cable or cut the end off of one and moved a connection to another one.
I have attached the connector location drawing and a picture for reference. The picture shows the connections in the plastic plate between the box and the tailgate. The white connection is the camera cable. The dirtier side of mine in the picture (left side) was disconnected when I got the truck and there was another wire running from it directly to the camera in the bumper. I don't believe this was the original wiring. I was hoping that I could just move the camera and all the wiring would still be there, but that doesn't seem to be the case. At the very least, I may be missing 1 white connector that was thrown out when the connector at the camera was spliced into another cable. The coax cable was cut behind the tailgate handle. I'm assuming this was to get the camera connector off so it could be spliced down below.
From what I can tell, there are 3 connections for the camera cable between under the box and at the camera: 1 below the box at the back of the box (white connectors), 1 at the plastic plate between the box and the tailgate (white connectors), and 1 right at the camera (purple 90 degree connector). I just want to be sure before I decide I need a new wiring harness or connector or whatnot. Any help would be appreciated.
