Every time I connect my camping trailer to my 3500 the back up warning beep thinks Im about to hit the trailer and is so loud I cant here anything else.
On line it says to go to the commercial settings and shut it off, but the only items in my commercial settings are auxillary switch settings, another person online said to cut the wires to the speakers,
but I am not sure I want to disconnent my rear door speakers on the time, I would like to just shut this off when towing,

The reason you’re finding instructions about disabling it in the commercial settings is because you’re looking for the backup alarm, which is in the commercial settings if equipped, but it’s not your backup alarm. It’s your park assist sensors.

Did you check your owners manual?

You have a rear park sense off switch at the bottom of the center stack.

You can also adjust the volume in your Uconnect.

Thank you very much, I have been looking threw the manual for days trying to find how to solve this, I just went out and tried your solution which is a button above my aux switches.
I am still learning about this truck,

You didn't have any trouble with it after you hook up because plugging a 7-pin into the truck turns the park sensor off for you. FWIW, mine never squawks hooking up the 5th wheel.

"cut the wires, LOL." Glad you came here instead.

I connect the 7-pin connector to my truck camper but I still have to turn off the rear park sensor using the switch. Is that because it doesn't have trailer brakes? Or because I use the connector in the bed instead of the one on the bumper?

It’s because of the brakes. I have to turn off my rear sensors when I tow my trailer without brakes.

Yes, as AH64ID said. It's only the trailer brake circuit sense that trips that park sensor shutoff.

I should have been more clear, but "plugging a 7-pin in" implies the trailer has a 7-pin plug, which unless someone hacked a different umbilical/plug, have trailer brakes.

FYI, I see the conflation of 3 different things in this post that deserve some clarity.

  1. Backup collision alarm (?)
    • This would likely be considered to be a feature of (optional equipment) Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) call Cross Path Detection
    • Its intent is to provide an alert if a moving vehicle is "crossing your path" as you are reversing
    • It would not alert backing up to a non movable object like a trailer
  2. Backup alarm
    • This is an optional feature that places a piezoelectric "speaker" near the rear tire and can be disabled/enabled by the operator
    • It is activated when you put the truck in Reverse and sounds loudly on the exterior (beep-beep-beep) like a dump truck
  3. Park Sensors alert
    • This is the alert you will see in the EVIC and hear (adjustable volume) from the bumper sensors that detect objects you might hit if you get too close
    • Either Front or Rear can be disabled with a button
    • Plugging a 7-pin trailer (with electric or EOH brakes) will disable the rear park sensors
      • (Anecdotally, there was a TSB ECM/PCM update several years ago to fix front sensors alarming with a trailer connect and rears disabled)
        • I believe said TSB also fixed the "keep hands on wheel" bug for Lane Sense equipped trucks
    • Volume is adjustable through the radio

In no case would there be any need or reason to "cut the wires" to disable these alerts. That's literally the dumbest thing I've seen on the internet this month. Whomever said that should be publicly shamed as an imbecil, at least in matters of vehicular technical advice.

My truck camper came from the factory with a 7-pin plug as I believe most/all slide in campers come equipped since there is a desire to have the house batteries to be charged from the trucks alternator.

Roger that, I missed the truck camper part. In my defense, I did say "trailer." ;)

I could see where you might not want the park sensors off with a truck camper.
