Hello all,

From all the reading here, do I come away with the correct reason for the tick to be excessive idling?

If so, what is considered excessive?
If I need to idle what rpm would be safe?

Thanks, Kevin

Idle is supposedly the Hemis weakness, however the ones affected the most are Police and service vehicles where the idle times are sometimes double the drive time. That being said the should mean there is a crapload of wiggle room. Idling for charging here and there is fine. If you're worried about it, hop in the truck every 20 minutes or so and make some V8 music

I idle more than I probably should. There's just a lot of circumstances where I tend to idle rather than shut down, particularly in cold weather. I've decided I'm not going to worry about it, I change oil at 5k intervals rather than by the dash indicator, otherwise put a lot of highway miles on it, there's only so much I'm willing to worry about in terms of how I use the truck.
