Auxillary Power Switches

First of all I am new and I have purchased a 2019 ram 2500 6.7

I reviewed an eighteen (18) page thread on auxiliary power switches being added/retrofitted to these trucks. I will say this, there is an excessive amount of commenting in reference to a "search"

I did this and I found multiple two - three (2-3) page threads with similar information.

Simply put, is there a more streamlined thread with start to finish specifics which resulted in a a positive outcome?

Here is what I have found and perhaps a "sticky" will help. Being a well seasoned non Mopar Automotive Dealership Service Manager this is confusing even for me, and I frequently get involved in sales add on's to factory options when we run into issues..

1.) I'm confident that I need this particular switch, 68376642AE (Aux Bank)
2.) I've reviewed several posts and still have not found a definitive answer as to where this particular piece is required, helpful or compatible 68398184AC(Aux Power Dist Center wiring)

3.) I believe there is no true clarification as to whether or not there is or is not an existing auxiliary power distribution box in trucks NOT fitted with the factory auxiliary switches, OR if one needs to be purchased regardless of install. I am aware that a generic relay box from amazon is used in several applications.

Understanding the above, I know the switch I would need, I am unsure of the accessory Mopar 68398184AC(Aux Power Dist Center wiring) needed or not, and I am only looking for clarification on whether or not it is required to purchase a generic relay box from amazon or like kind.

If anyone would kindly confirm a 100% certain list of parts needed to complete this retrofit I would greatly appreciate it. Unfortunately the search has led me to posts which still don't draw a lot of conclusion and the inception of them is seemingly the beginning stages of trial and error attempts with no follow up.

Bravo for reading through those threads!

Here's what I would add to your assumptions:

All diesel trucks had an AUX PDC present. It's there for the cabin heater. I'm uncertain if all the extra wiring is present, I don't believe it is.

Unless the AUX switches were factory ordered, the gas trucks don't have it.

You can add the factory AUX PDC by adding all the necessary wiring and the Aux switches using the appropriate switch panel for the truck. There's a chart I posted in the main thread that shows all the part numbers for that switch bank. Most chose to add an aftermarket AUX PDC for simplicity or even forego the factory switches and go aftermarket (Switch-Pro or Trigger). If there were to be a locked sticky, we would need to make several or it gets all jumbled up just like the bigger thread.

68398184AC is the bag of upfitter wires that come with the option. It's the "user" part of the kit. FWIW, that did change for 21+ trucks that have 5 additional pass through circuits.

If you were to add a full factory "sales code" the entire left dash harness wiring bundle would need to be replaced. @Jimmy07 has posted about this and is the resident expert on all these options and electronics.

I reached out via private message to Paul.

I think we all learn and understand differently. So I will go through and turn this partially post into a step by step on not only taking a 2019+ RAM, not equipped from the factory with the aux/uppfitter option, but I will go a step further and add details on fitting the Baja designs fog lights with the wiring harness from them built and made for the kit sold.

I believe this will be best and to do so with Clarity, steps and photographs start to finish.

obviously anyone looking to add the option is doing so in an effort to add an accessory as well. So let’s make a complete write up start to finish :)

Have the Baja Designs kit already. I will knock this out when I receive the kit from Paul.
 
I'd love to get the Aux/Upfitter stuff in the truck (the one thing I regret not getting)
A step by step guide would be fantastic... I just run myself in circles going through that thread.
 
Completely understand, I did the same and like I said, I come from a background with considerable experience not only in a mechanical/electrical fashion, but at a dealer level.

I will write this up with something that is clear, concise and final start to finish.

doing the install isn't that bad. factory switch panel looks best!
 
I just did this install, and realized after I put it all back together that I missed a step in Paul's wiring digram. I [EDIT: was an idiot], and didn't run the labeled Aux wires OUT from each PDC relay, so I'll be opening it back up and doing that this weekend. I thought he was just labeling which relay controlled which switch. Otherwise, everything went smoothly.

So I finished wiring this up this morning. Do I not have the option to use the pass-through to the rear of the truck with this wiring kit from Paul? The 2 ports on the plug for the ground and pass through aren’t wired up with his kit?
 
I'm not sure what your talking about, apologies. what is "pass through to rear of truck"..? Paul's kit gives you the two pigtails under the hood as it would from the factory..
 
Maybe I’m just not understanding it correctly. I thought you could jumper one of the switches to a “pass-through” port on the lower plug with aux 5 & 6 that would run it to the rear plug above the spare.

It’s not the end of the world, but it’d be nice to not have to run a switch wire to the rear.
 
ah gotcha... I'm not sure the pass through connection would be there on non aux trucks, but maybe Jimmy could confirm that... I don't even remember seeing that lol
 
Yeah, that’s ok. I’m just stoked to have the switches. The back of the plug where the Ground and Pass-through would go isn’t populated.
 
Hate to keep bumping this thread as people are probably tired of reading about AUX switches.... but I finally wired up my first accessory, and I gotta say I feel like a 5 year old with how happy and impressed I am with this setup. I removed a gaggle of wires including a fused direct to battery wire, a relay, and all other kinds of crap when I moved my BD light bar wiring from their included switch over to my newly installed OEM AUX switches. One wire, bam done.
