The light sensor in the center of the dash, what else does it control? Contemplating covering it "semi-permanently"

I don't have auto climate or dual zone, just a basic tradesman level 2 with 8.4.

I cannot answer your question but I've covered the one in my 2019 Wrangler and did not notice any changes other than the lights operating the way I think they should.

I don’t have The answer, but what do you want the lights to do?
I drive with full lights on at all times. Covering the sensor for the truck into thinking it's dark out and turning the lights on. Yes, I know I can turn them on by the switch, which I currently do. But hey, might as well make the technology work for me, right? One less switch to push when I start it up everytime.

Cool. Interesting to see how others think.

Personally, I turned my DRL option off. I prefer the stealthy approach, I guess

Like you, I think, the lights (when set to Auto) should be on when the vehicle is on. That sensor should simply control whether the dash lights are full bright or dimmed. Just my opinion of course but it would be safer if everyone has lights on all the time.

That's my thoughts exactly.
