This used to be norm for added lubricity but I thought this would negatively affect the DPF.
Seen a lot of posts in other groups people still recommend this as a fuel additive for latest gen trucks.

What's y'all opinion on this?

That's what I thought. Not sure if people are just trolling or being dumb.
Newest diesels were made to run on ultra low sulfur fuel, don't think extra lubricants are needed.
I've personally never used any additives with my 2019, no issues this far (knock on wood). Will continue doing the same unless I delete it.

The extra lube is probably needed. Taking the sulfur out was an emissions play, not for the love of longevity. Older 3rd gen id prob run atf but id be concerned about hurting the cp3. Deleted maybe run a small amount ?

Yeah I know that, I assume they made some improvements to be able to run ULSD, no? Extra lubricity is never a bad thing.

I think they just forced USLD down everyone’s throat and made manufacturers deal with it. 2 stroke marine oil is prob the best, safest would be power service- I’ve used it for years.

My father used to work in a food manufacturer plant and he could bring home fresh cooking oil. I’d mix like 1/2 gal to 32 gal of diesel and it would smell like McDonald’s coming from my 12v… lol

I would say no. I thought ATF was designed for its extra detergents to prevent deposits on the mechanisms in an automatic transmission. While that may have helped clean stuff in the past for a better running engine I’d think lubricity is an additive to fill in for what lubrication was lost by removing sulfur. Sulfur is/was used in cutting fluids for machining metal also.

Lots of info in this sticky.

Don't think the ATF thing ever came up as that was an old 5.9L "thing" for some.

Looking at other products on the list, oils, MMO, etc. I can't imagine ATF would provide any upside and has strong potential for a big downside.

ATF might clean up injectors, but it's not going to add any lubricity.

ATF was never really a good thing to use as additive, synthetic 2stroke oil was better expecially marine stuff as its low ash but no lube is needed if anything just use power service
This is 100% correct IMO. On my older trucks I mixed 2 stroke TCW3 with Power Service. On anything in the modern emissions era I'd just use Power Service, in northern climate use grey 8 months of the year and white for the colder months.
