i'm thinking about swapping the expedition one front bumper on my 18 to the full arb front bumper but it weighs 331 #, the ex 1 , 150.
there is a carli coil setup on the front, is this arb to much of a load for this truck?
i am also looking at the aluminess at 75#.
already hit a couple animals so the investment is worth it to me.

I have the AEV front bumper equipped with a Warn M12s. The bumper shipped at 300lb and the warn is approx 89lb with the synthetic rope.

Some of the shipping weight of the bumper was pallets and packaging. after removing the factory bumper and tow hooks I think I added about 250- 300lb to the front of the truck.

I purchased a leveling kit in anticipation of the front squatting but it did not. I lost 1/4” up front from the added weight. Went from 2” of rake to 1.75”

You are kidding right. These trucks aren’t fords. They can handle the weight.

I hang a 800 lbs plow off the front of mine most of the winter so your fine lol

OP has a legit concern in my opinion. Depending on how his PW is optioned he can have as little as 1000 lb of payload to work with (I do). How much does our factory PW bumper weigh? You need to find out the net gain in weight.

Ouch. Do they have softer springs? That’s a hit to the Payload numbers. 3187 payload here on my tradesman

Yes, PW has a softer suspension with more articulation and a lift for off road. Also only 10k available for towing. I'm waiting for the AEV bumper for the PW wagon to debut. AEV told me late Q1 2021.

The AEV bumper is of excellent quality. Highly recommend. They’re great to work with, the product, hardware, etc is all top notch. Plus it just looks bad ass.

maybe i'll wait to see what aev puts out,
i have a carli pintop 2.5 on it, payload goes up to 2k,which is great for the fwc aboard.
i have been told the front will support the 330 arb as there is already an expedition 1 on it.
been trying to call carli for days to confirm with only an answering machine.
side note ,put the carli front diff, plate on, ez on, not a drip and beautiful welding, roll of quarters!

I had an ARB on my last truck. It was a 1/2 ton and it handled it just fine. AEV makes some sweet stuff but the ARB bumper is iconic. As soon as they have one for the 19+ I will be pulling the trigger on that no questions.

Nice! I was just looking at Carli and Thuren suspension for the PW yesterday. I thought the 2k payload increase was specifically for the rear (bed) of the truck. With the front Carli spring actually being softer than OEM. Also, do the radius arm drops end up cutting into your ground clearance? Effectively making it a net zero increase?

A storage solution is priority for me right now though. I'm probably going with the Frontrunner bed rack. It's one of the few that will work with RAM boxes.

2k is for the rear and the drops cut into clearance but your front diff, is still hanging there.
finally got to talk to carli, rep, said its ,it will sag .5 -1 inch, no big deal, now arb says the bumper won't fit my 18.'
lol
back to the aluminess unless i can get some protection fab work on the exped 1 bumper

How is it gonna be different from the one they have now. I thought it had a power wagon ootion

They’re working on integrating the factory power wagon winch. They make a different mounting kit for different winches. FYI there are no 16.5ti winches in the country. I had to settle for an m12s

Check out Chassis Unlimited for nice low profile winch bumpers. They improve your approach angles too

Yeah, because of the soft factory springs (which enable great articulation off-road) payload for a PW is around 1,600 pounds (depending on options, it can be lower).

The poster I quoted (Anthony?) is running White Knuckle rock sliders (which are awesome, by the way): 230 pounds
ARB bumper: 300 pounds (but subtract from that the weight of the stock bumper to get the delta)
Heavier spare tire if you go up to a 35 or 37: 25-50 pounds
Maybe a topper: 200 pounds
Hook up a 5,000 pound trailer, and that's ~500 pounds to the payload
That's a subtotal of roughly 1,100 pounds of added weight
Total payload of 1,600 - 1,100 = 500 pounds of remaining payload. That's equivalent to two full-size Americans plus 100 pounds of luggage/gear.

Of course not everyone runs rock sliders, or a topper, or combines all those things and pulls a trailer, but it is really worth thinking about your payload when adding armor to a PW on the factory springs.
