Anyone Used Maxxis Razr AT?

Has anyone used this tire? Any idea if it is good in the snow? seems like an exceptional value. I have found that some of these cheap tires are actually great in the snow as they are made from a very soft rubber. Downside is they wear very quickly. #1 example of this is the Kenda Klever RT, I think it works amazing in snow, but wears very quickly. This was OK when it was an inexpensive tire, but it now seems to be going for nearly the same price as many other, more well known tires.

Wondering about switching over to the Maxxis in 37x12.5R17, wondering if anyone has any first hand experience.
 
I contemplated them for my previous truck where I was running 20" wheels, but decided against it when I read a few posts where people had reported that their "37s" ended up measuring closer to 34-34.5" once mounted and fully inflated. No real-world experience, but that was enough to steer me elsewhere at the time.
 
yea i would pass. they were a soft compound tire for rock crawling, for buggies and sxs's. if they are remotely soft they wont hold up to a truck what so ever. i run maxxis stickys on my can am turbo rr and well, they are super soft lol.

That actually sounds really promising. I don't care how long they last. I am looking for soft compound for maximum snow traction and I don't care if I have to buy a set every year. The hope is that in cold weather the tire will be more pliable and the rubber not hardened.

For everything I have ever bought tires for, good performing tires don't last long, and long lasting tires don't perform well.

Regarding the size I have seen a YouTube review where they measure out to 36" inflated on the truck, I think that is pretty typical of a 37" tire. I haven't seen any where they measure <35.

problem is stickies are terrible in the snow. they become unsticky and freeze up rock hard and give 0 traction. we run north east trails and in the winter they are garbage. they are meant for rocks if anything.
 
The 17” versions must be cheaper. The 20” are on par with any of the leading performers.

I pulled the trigger and ordered the Maxxis Razr AT. If they are bad, they will become summer tires and I will try something else. They are 3 mountain snowflake rated, for whatever that's worth. I've really liked the kenda klever RT's (non-3MSF) but I actually really disliked nokian LT3 "real" snow tires on my last truck - they were great on ice but were kind of trash on loose and deep snow. Near me we get loose and deep /unplowed snow more frequently than black ice, cause after a storm they eventually salt all the roads to death.

Any word on how those RAZR ATs are treating you? I just ordered a set in 285/75R18 hoping to have them mounted by the end of March.
 
They seemed decent in the snow. Maybe not as good as the kenda klever rt. The rubber is definitely a lot harder than the kenda. I expect them to last a long time. I haven't put a ton of miles on it because my truck has been broken with electrical issues for a good portion of the winter
 
Walmart had a crazy deal on these at one point and a bunch of guys on the gladiator forum bought them up. They all seemed to love them the way the OP does.
 
To be clear i am most concerned with loose snow performance and I haven't found anything that does as well as the klever RT on a full size truck, including "real" snow tires. As I mentioned, the klever RT wears real bad in the summer. I think I will probably go back to the klever RT for winter and run the maxxis as a summer tire. I would recommend the Maxxis if you need reasonable snow traction but not maximum, or don't care about winter performance, and want a long tire life and low price.
 
Thanks Wilder; Long life and low price should work here - much more likely to drive thru drifted sand and black-out dust storms in my area. Attached pic from the blizzard of '20 was the worst I've seen here, but I think they could have handled it.

We drive loose snow, volcanic rock, gravel, and mud in the quite rural Rockies. Need a puncture proof heavy 3 ply sidewall 3PMSF rated tire with a much deeper than the 15/32" tread depth of the Maxxis Razr A/T. I punctured through a tire on my last set of Cooper S/T Maxx with the Power Wagon which lost grip on snow and ice. Next snowstorm is this Tuesday with 6 to 10 inches and a low of 9F predicted here, but then our stupid NOAA weather station is usually way wrong due to it's located up the highway at 10,500 feet altitude where the climate there is too harsh for any settlement. 35 feet snow there annually. Less than 10 feet here.

I run Toyo C/T's 35 12.50R17 on our 2016 Ram Power Wagon and Toyo C/T's 275 70R18 on our 2024 3500 HO Cummins. 8/32" tread depth left on our 2016 with approximately 54K miles on five tires and zero issues. Majority is towing 8K pound trailer. I haven't any chipping or anything. Just good wear, longevity, with excellent winter grip and now with just 8/32" remaining they're slipping as was expected in snow.
