I finally picked up my new 2022 2500 Laramie, and while it has the digital rearview mirror, I didn't buy the camera since I already have a camera mounted on my camper. After messing around with it this evening, it seems I can't–or at least it's not going to be as easy as converting the RCA output of my existing camera to the connector on the rear bumper.

I've seen lots of threads here about using the Mopar kit, but I'm hoping that someone has had luck using something besides that. Apart from the OUTRAGEOUS cost of the XH7 kit (seriously, is the Mopar camera made of gold?), I've already got a camera installed that would be a pain to uninstall and toss even though it's perfectly fine.

Any thoughts? It would be really cool to be able to use a $25 camera plus an RCA cable, but maybe that's just a pipe dream.

Thanks!

Bummer, but that makes sense. Wonder what protocol or interface it uses. Like, if it uses SDI, a TON of stuff exists out there that can interface with it, so it's conceivable to buy an SDI - RCA interface. That's probably also wishful thinking, though.

Now it's a matter of how much effort am I willing to put in to figuring it out (with the risk of it being proprietary), vs just spending the money...

I asked the dealer when I ordered the truck and when I picked it up what I'd need to use it. They didn't know either time. At one point he said I'd need to get an aftermarket part. Ugh.
