Anyone taken delivery of RSI Smartcap lately?

Ordered an RSI Smartcap in mid May from a local dealer. Was originally told July delivery. That became August or September. Now they have no idea when it might show up. The US distributor reportedly has no idea either and no one seems willing or able to call the factory to get an answer. I understand RSI is building a new factory in the US, but I also assume the current factory is still running and units are being produced at some level. I also get that international shipping is ”challenged” these days.

That said, has anyone received a Smartcap in the last few months? If so, when did you order?

As much as I like their product, I’m getting to the point where I’m ready to start over with another dealer and manufacturer and looking to understand if it’s just me (incompetent dealer) or if it’s more systemic with RSI.
 
i'm looking to go the same route when my Ram gets here. But RSI said they are backordered until April 22' which to me is crazy!! hopefully you get yours soon. good luck!
 
Ordered mine in late July. Placed on back order. Was told January arrival. With the way things are not sure if that still holds. If they are smart they would ship to Florida and avoid the west coast ports.
 
Ordered mine Aug 23 for a Nov delivery. I called 3 weeks ago and was told 2 to 4 weeks. Called again on Friday and was told the next shipment was due to come off the boat in 2 to 3 weeks. I asked if my cap was on that shipment, they had no clue. Did everyone have to put the full amount down or just a deposit?
 
With what we are having to pay for containers and how few caps they can probably fit in a container I'm starting to think they would rather default on ordered caps.

My buddy had to put half down.
 
I put half down as well.

Planning to call the dealer later today / tomorrow, but not expecting anything different based on the responses above. Will report back.

The RSI caps pack flat, so they should be able to get a large number on a container. That said, it may be a fraction of the demand or they simply have issues making them. Given the lack of info, which is really frustrating, it’s hard to say….
 
I was going to get an RSI for my Gladiator so I followed their progress over on the JT site pretty closely. It seems there is very little communication/updates between when a cap is ordered and when it shows up. The delivery date can slip some, but they did always seem to show up. Now that I've ordered a Power Wagon, the plan is to order the RSI as soon as I sell the Gladiator. As such, I've been watching the RSI website and they have been really good at updating it to reflect when caps should arrive here in the us. As of like 3 weeks ago they were showing RAM 2500 caps due in in January 2022. Today they show April. I'm assuming that the Jan allotment has been sold already and expected on time (based on what @1651Naismith posted) and the next delivery date for new order is now April.
 
Ordered an EVOc beginning of October. Emailed Oct 26 and was told 4-6 weeks. I'll probably be sending another email soon to confirm that still holds. Ordered mine to be shipped to my house.

Did you order directly from them, or through a dealer?
 
Welp, just about when I was going to give up all hope and go in a different direction, I got the call from the dealer today and the cap was in. Managed to get it down there to be installed too. 6-months from order to install (ugh). Did not have time to really check everything out today, but it seems to be everything I thought it would be in terms of fit and finish.

Congrats looks great. Did the wiring harness ship with it? I saw my fit SmartCap on a Jeep this week. Fit and finish on it was much nicer than I thought it would be. Hopefully for us there are a bunch more of them about to show up at dealers.
 
Looks like your cap is taller than the cab. Is it taller than the sharkfin?

I had the dealer install it, so not sure if the wiring harness was included or they ordered it separately (it is all wired up).

It was getting dark when I picked it up, so haven't had a chance to look at it closely in the daylight. That said, it does stick up a touch higher than I thought it would (not an issue for me). I'll see if I can get some measurements tomorrow.
