As I get older, I am no longer able to comfortably sit and drive for long periods of time without discomfort on my bottom and thighs.
It happens when I drive for three or four hours or more, or when I sit on an airplane for a couple of hours.
Not sure but I think the sciatic nerve may have something to do with it.

I have the heated and ventilated seats on my Laramie and that helps a little.
I pull over at rest stops to walk around and stretch, but doesn't really help that much.
I've tried adjusting the seat in countless ways and also tried different shoes.

Would like to hear from anyone who has experienced the same issue.
Also wondering if there is a seat cushion that would help alleviate the discomfort, I think the numbness may be caused by poor circulation or who knows?

Here is a link to a product I found online:

Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

How many miles are on your truck? For the first few thousand miles anything over 1 hour in the truck I would start to go numb. However, now that the truck has about 6k miles the seats have broken in and I feel great on longer drives. Obviously, my drivers seats gets used way more than the passenger seat. The other day when I was detailing my interior I hopped on the passenger side and immediately noticed how firm the seat was compared to the drivers side. The seats take some time to break in, hopefully with some more miles yours will get better. Not sure if it matters but I am 5' 11" and weigh 185.

4,100 miles so far, I'm the same size as you are. Hopefully mine gets better after a few more miles. Thanks

The seats are terrible!!

Look it a gel cushion they use for wheel chairs, it's pressure relieving

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

I guess it’s subjective. My tradesman cloth seats are some of the more comfortable seats I’ve had. They even beat my king ranch f150 but they aren’t as nice as my z71 suburban were, those were like la-z-boys. They’re light years better than all three of our tundras

I feel the seats are alright. Although I tend to want to fall asleep if I drive any vehicle for more than 3 hours at a time... Its bad.... My right knee has problems though and the seats in these trucks tends to aggravate it for some reason on longer trips. Can't get the angle of the seat bottom right to prevent it so I just have to get out and walk it off every few hours.

Yep i love my seats not as comfortable as the 01 dually but 21 years will soften a seat up lol…. The best seats i ever had were my 92 buick lesaber limited they were leather pillow seats you would sink right in to them lol

My Laramie has some of the more comfortable truck seats I've owned and I haven't had any problems with long hauling, BUT I do in home physical therapy several times a week as well as see a specialist PT (If your insurance will cover hingehealth it's worth its weight in gold for guided PT in home). I've had several back surgeries, I have issues with sciatica, and I used to have those sorts of issues when I was on the road for more than an hour or two. Not trying to discount that you might find your seats uncomfortable now, but having been in the same spot tackling posture and regularly stretching those areas that get tight is what fixed it for me in just about any vehicle.

When my back does flare up or I over do it, I do have a purple cushion for emergency use that really helps. That said it's far from a long term fix in my case and I just need to double down on some of the stretching/PT to get back to a comfortable spot.

Rented a 2021 Tacoma TRD last year that was the absolute worst, torture…and it was only 300 miles in em’

Sounds like you need thigh support which is something German automakers incorporate into their seats. You could look into installing an used X5 or X7 seat.

Good aftermarket options are also available but I am not familiar with many other than these guys. http://scheel-mann.com/seats

This may sound crazy but I have a similar problem with my right sciatic nerve and what has helped tremendously is putting a 12 oz water bottle under my thigh. My nerve would start really hurting after the 3 hour mark. As soon as I start to feel it I stuff a water bottle under there and I am good for a few more hours. Hopefully that helps.

This likely won’t solve your specific issue, but I highly recommend compression socks for any long periods of sitting. I travel internationally and started using them on flights, and my legs feel exponentially better. I’ve started using them on road trips too. Cheap and easy comfort improvement.

Great suggestion. I have used them and they do help a lot.
