Uconnect 5 with the 8.4 on a 2022 2500. The first few months I had the truck I had no issues. Sometime back in July or August Uconnect updated and has been crap since.
My CarPlay constantly turns off on the Uconnect screen however, will still play music if that makes sense? Every time I’m near an overpass now or a pole here in Phoenix it also cuts out. If my sensor for the lights on the dash detects a change it will drop off CarPlay and default to the home screen but still play music and calls but not switch back to CarPlay. The biggest annoyance comes from when I’m using gps and it drops out to the Home Screen. If after a couple of seconds it “reconnected” I would not be complaining yet here I am.
With that said, If I cover the sensor with a hat it will stay on without issues. Driving too work is 19 miles and it will drop out on average 5-6 times before I reach the I-10 and another 3-4 time after I am on the I-10. On my jeeps and past mopar vehicles I’ve never experienced this. This is also my only non-navigation unconnect I’ve owned. Has anyone swapped to something different?
I have seen several different versions of the 12” aftermarket radios but have seen a lot of mixed reviews including losing some features. At the end of the day if I need CarPlay, reverse camera and if I’m upgrading to something new the ability to have a crawl camera upfront. Yes technically I am under the 36,000 mile btb but wait times last time I checked with bill luke and surrounding dealers is 3-4 days not including the day you drop it off and most of the time they don’t have rentals or loaners which to me is a hindrance. The last time I took my truck in bill luke gave me a Jeep compass and didn’t fix anything because they couldn’t replicate it even tho literally as I pulled out of their garage it did it. End rant
