Anyone add wireless phone charging that is NOT the Ram built in one?

My new 2500 is getting delivered in a week or two. I did not order it with the built in wireless phone charging. I would like to know what people have done to add wireless charging after the fact - something that is NOT the Ram wireless charger. For example, has anyone ordered an aftermarket wireless charger from Amazon and mounted it somewhere? Or do I have to bite the bullet and order the Ram wireless charger and install it - something I really don't want to do.

I tried doing a search and all the wireless charger topics I found dealt with installing the Ram wireless charger after the fact... wondering if there is something more simple (and cheaper) out there.

+1 for plugged in when Carplay. It's faster than Bluetooth and I love running Waze in the truck. I thought I was missing out with the wireless charging, but plugged in is really a lot better for me.

Check out ProClip USA for a rock solid mount that doesn't hinder your air vents. I even routed the phone cable so it's out of sight, very simple install.

Just curious but what's the purpose of the mount if you're running it through Carplay?

Anyone here use Bulletpoint mounts? They use the existing screws in the tray above the radio. They make a magnetic one and a traditional one

If Ram had wireless carplay and a wireless charging pad that was better designed, I would use it. The vertical wireless charging pad in my 3500 is pretty much worthless. I can’t get my iphone 11 max with a case squeezed into it, and I still need to plug the phone in for carplay so what’s the point?

See I don't really use Car Play or AA... who knows, maybe that will change when I get my 2500, but I never used them in my Silverado. I just want an easy way to charge my phone... and nothing is easier than just placing it on a pad. I did not order my 2500 with the Ram wireless charger option because I read a lot of reviews like jeffn saying it is almost unusable with some phones / cases. And not to mention it is an expensive upgrade. So I am wondering if people got creative with a decent quality aftermarket charger pad

I just bought an Anker round wireless pad and plugged it into the USB in the back of the console. Ran the cable and pad up to the floor of my console. I just lay my Iphone8 on it and it works great. I think it charges faster than plugging it in. Less than $20.

This is similar to what I was planning on doing. Rumor has it new iPhones will not have charging ports so you will need some other solution eventually.

In my Tradesman that had the floor console, I placed one of the dual pad Qi chargers under the little rubber mat. The dual pads meant I didn't have to be precise when I set a phone down there.

But in my current Laramie, I couldn't find anywhere that made sense.

I did like it for the times I only cared about a charge. But now I've just decided that if I am going through the effort of pulling the phone out of my pocket, I might as well just plug it in and set it in the console.

I dont know how these new Rams work, but in my Silverado (with CarPlay) I hated plugging it in. I just wanted to charge it and all of the USB ports were integrated with the Car Play. So while I just wanted to listen to the radio, my radio was constantly switching over to CarPlay. And if I was running GPS on my phone, forget about it. It would constantly be overriding my radio to give directions, ... It was miserable. It got to the point where I couldn't even charge my phone because it was so annoying how it kept taking over my radio. I am really hoping my new Ram isn't like that. What I ended up doing was just buying a cigarette lighter charger - but it was so dumb I needed to go that route.

You can turn off the voice directions on both Google Maps and Waze. The Uconnect systems will switch over to android auto when you plug your phone in, but you can easily go back to the radio if that's your preference and it'll stay there.

I have the dual one and I like it. Only two of the three screw holes lined up for me on my 21, but it also has 3m tape on the bottom so it has been fine.

Another one I have been looking at that seems nice is Direct Fit by Course Motorsports. Looks to be roughly equivalent to the Bulletpoint, but you don't lose the use of your tray. It looks like the Bulletpoint allows you to move the final position some, but if the Direct Fit one is fixed in a good spot, I like the idea of keeping my tray available. Anyone have one of those? They have a magnetic one and a wireless charging one.

That's similar to what I use. I keep one datablock plugged into the USB-2 for charging only. I can then just move the cable from USB1 if I want to use AA to the (blocked) USB2. I also have a datablocker USBC cable in the USBC-2 port for the wife so her phone doesn't link AA.
