Kind of interested in skinny’s on stock 20” NE wheels. Looking to replace the Transforce rubber after 30k+. I can get another 5k out of them but won’t tow another season with them. My use is 95% street 5% forest road stuff. This is the snow belt so winter traction is a factor although I have survived this far on the stock junk! The truck has a 12k 5er hooked up for 8 or 10 weekend warrior camping trips a year. I don’t need aggressive. I don’t want or need a level or suspension parts until I do(I will replace with Thuren or other parts when the time comes). I want longevity and a decently quiet ride. Stock size is 285/60/20 or 33-ish inches. I am looking at 275/65/20 or 34-ish inches. Narrower footprint will do better in snow(theory) and taller sidewall will improve ride(theory x2). Thoughts? Thanks for your input.

I dig the Milestar Patagonia ATR

Narrow tires are better depending, I used to love the 35x10.5R15s on the jeeps

Our family's Ram 2500 4x4 Crew Cab Cummins drives through quite rural Wyoming snowdrifts at a quick speed with 35 inch (285 75R18) Toyo A/T III tires which are tall and skinny. Skinner is better for this with the traction control off. Our family's Jeep Rubicon on 37 12.50R17 tires gets stuck up onto the drifts trying to do the same. I don't have issues with our two Rams in the Colorado Rockies snow with their 35 12.50R17 and 275 70R18 3PMSF rated Toyo C/T tires.

35 11.50R20 and 37 11.50R20 are a choice.

I think Super Duties come w/ LT275/75/20’s so you could somewhat use one of those for a reference, pretty sure their wheels are 8” wide as well.

I personally wouldn’t want any skinnier than I have right now, that’s just me, sounds like a LT 285/65/20 would work as well

I’ve always liked skinnier tires, but the torque these motors produce just eats them up too fast.

I have a set of 275/70R18 and 285/60R20’s for my truck and the compound/tread pattern has a much bigger effect on snow traction than the small width difference. The slightly wider tires do seem to do better with tire life towing thou, so I won’t be going any skinner.

Skinnies installed. I have a whopping 20 miles on them so time will tell. First take is the truck feels much more stable. They are quiet and it still rides like a truck. I’m the dare to be different type and also didn’t want to spend $2k on tires hence the non-big name brand. They will likely have cracks in them before I wear them out.

I like pizza cutters. I think I might be the only one here that will but get rid of the Transforce HTs for ATs in the same size 275/70R18. I think they are plenty big and the fact that I live at moderately high altitude and have a 2500 6.4, I want to keep it as stock as possible so I don't affect performance and MPGs. Currently looking at the Cooper Discoverers Walmart offers at $185 a pop. My previous truck was Gladiator Rubicon with 35s and performance went to crap with that tire size.

285/65-20 Falken Wildpeaks on stock wheels are just shy of 34" and all inside the wheel well. Don't like the tires protruding outside throwing crap all over. Works well for me as we tow a lot but I get a bigger sidewall and actually a lot smoother than the 285/60 Firestones.

Are you running your 285/75/R18 tires on a completely stock Ram 2500/3500? If so do they rub?

Also if you are stock can you run tire chains on your 285/75/R18 tires?
