This has probably been answered but I just can't find it. I have a set of AMP powered running boards on my 2022 PW which plug into the OBD port. I am looking at purchasing an AlfaOBD to tinker with on my truck but am not sure if the AlfaOBD has to be plugged in all the time to maintain the settings which of course would disable my running boards. I hope I would only have to plug it in, change whatever settings I want to change and then plug my AMP back in. Is this correct?

I have the same set up.
I unplug my AMP steps, they retract, and plug in my Alphaobd. Do all of my changes and resets, then unplug alpha and plug in the steps. Everything works fine.
Basically you are reprogramming the trucks computer, same thing the factory did.
Only thing I did was remove the lock clip off the security bypass cable plugs to make it easier to remove it when I'm done.

Same here. But I don't remove the bypass cable, just tuck it up out of the way between times that I want to use AlfaOBD.

The rest of the time the steps are plugged in.
