Hey guys just wondering if any one has been able to figure out how to allow the cargo light (the 3rd brake light ones not the in bed cargo lights) to stay on while the truck is in motion. I'm hoping someone has been able to toggle this function with their Alfa OBD and has some directions. Id like to be able to turn the lights on to have a quick look at my cargo while driving in the dark. I totally get why they have it set up like they do but just trying to see if there's a way to make it work how i want it to.

Mine turns on and stays on when I press the cargo light button on the headlight knob.

What state are you in, some have different settings.

Canada might have a different setting, like CA and a few other US states.

I haven't tested turning mine on and then driving to see if it will stay on. But if I try to turn on the cargo light while driving, it does not. 2022 2500 Laramie.

The cargo light on my 2015 1500 turned on with the button near the headlight switch regardless of if I was in motion or not.

Edit to add: I see a feature in the AlfaOBD log called "Baggage (Cargo) Lamp Output Disabled with vehicle moving" but the value is set to "No" and I seem to observe the behavior you do, @madmat

I'm pretty sure mine turns on with the button on the headlight switch too. Turned it on one night on accident trying to turn off the fog lights.

I think it's here:

2014 CBC Config I/O & Feat.-Baggage (Cargo) Lamp Output Disabled with vehicle moving change it to no.

Yes it's a Canadian truck. Ill check and change that setting and see what it does. Thanks for the help

Report back if changing the setting @Brutal_HO referenced works for you. That setting is already set to "No" on my truck and my cargo light also cannot be turned on while I'm driving. And mine is a Louisiana truck. So not from either of the two states in the linked comment.

I tried it out and no luck. Tried both yes and no(it was already set to no).

OK, now that I think about it, I believe the light comes on when you view the cargo camera from the radio.

That said, it's been a while and I'm not able to check it right now to confirm either.

I checked mine again and the lights will come on with either the button or the cargo camera.

I can't say for certain if the cargo light on the CHMSL is on as it was daylight, but the bed lights were and the dash light lit up. I don't think cargo and bed lights are separate. Stayed on well past the timeout, but I also have a NAViKS box.

Just used mine this morning.

The cargo light goes out in drive but is on in any other position.

Same with the reverse lights on the mirrors.

The bed lights do stay on.

Mine is a calif truck. But I reconfigured it with AlfaOBD so that it works.

I don't have the cargo camera.

Has anybody figured out a way to allow the cargo light up on the CHMSL to remain on (switched) while driving down the road. My 2024 doesn't allow this, even when I toggle the setting in AlfaOBD to "NO". I'm guessing this is due to the newer mirrors with the LED flood lights installed on them, which the settings won't allow to turn on while in drive. Thoughts? Thanks!
