AISIN shifting issues....

So on Saturday I went to the dealer to test drive a 6.4 gas engine (thinking about going to a gasser from a cummins) and just for the hell of it I took out a mega cab with the HO Cummins. I had never driven a mega cab and they only had an AISIN one. As I started accelerating, I noticed it would not shift past 4th gear. I turned the selector on and off and it would not shift past 4th. It surged a bit and lurched forward making a loud noise. I stopped, shut the truck off and restarted and it worked fine. In the past when ive driven the HO's, the rough shifting always led me to buying 68rfes.

That's not normal behavior. In fact, unless I am really on the throttle, mine will short shift right up to 6th gear at about 1K RPM, even on a slight grade. The Aisin has some weird behavior for sure, but they go hundreds of thousands of miles, even in hotshot type heavy service without issues.
