Hi everyone,

I am wondering if any ram 2019_2020 owners can share some insight regarding an issue I am having with my truck. It is my understanding, I should be able to lower the bed, approx 3 inches. This functionality can be accessed via the touchscreen ‘lower bed’ app

except it does work. I hear some clicks and I see some messages that flashes quickly About the bed being lowered. I measured the tail gate height, and nothing changes.

anyone else has the same issue? Some people say that the bed must be loaded with weight for it to work. The latter does not make any sense for me. Why lower the bed after you hitch up or put weight into the bed of the truck?

thank you

That 3" is only claimed for the 2500.

You'll be lucky to get 1" out of the 3500.

Bed Lowering (any of the several modes) doesn't need weight to activate. Alt Ride Height (travel 1" lower/level) needs weight to activate.

When I tow with my 2020 3500 the "alternate" level setting lowers me 1 1/4"
When I hook up the trailer and use the bed lower setting it only lowers 3/4". Empty it does nothing

i m going to the dealer tomorrow and explain this. My bed will not lower at all, although I hear some clicks and that’s it.

The bed lowering app only works if you have a load either in the bed or a trailer hitched with enough tongue weight. With no load there is no message, it simply does nothing.
The alternate trailer towing height is a button below the screen, It also only works with a load. With no load it will give a message on the EVIC

Some do, some don't. I don't think there's a fix.

Have you tried using Jack mode or any of the other modes? They really just let out pressure and lock out the auto-level so the suspension doesn't move on you during jacking, hooking up, etc.

I disagree to an extent. Some do, some don't. Seems a load can make it work better but it isn't required. My truck sometimes lowers 1/2" - 1". Some don't lower at all. IMHO, it's incorrect to say "only works if you have a load..."

The EVIC does display a flashing "lowering" or "raising" message message even if it just clicks and farts and doesn't move. It is releasing pressure from the bags back into the storage tank, there just may not be enough weight carried by the bags to notice much change. The UConnect Icon stays lit (blue on my Limited). If you use Alt Trailer Height with no load, it will flash Lowering then Raising and not do anything. I do notice that if you do it more than once, it doesn't seem to display anything on lowering, press it again and it flashes lowering once and the Icon goes off. I think it needs to see a key cycle to reset.

I didn't get the before pic, only the lowering, and raising, but the carpenter rule was at the lower edge of the reflective tape on my hitch when I started. It moved 1" down, 7/8" back up.

Excuse the dust, it look way worse on camera in daylight than in person. I guess I need to clean.

thank you so much and big thank for taking time to take the pics. it helps noobies like me,.

So it sounds it should drop something. At least 1 inch - maybe less.

I found it so confusing at first. I bought a set of ramps for my ATV but the truck sits too high for my 8ft ramps. Too steep. I thought that if I could lover the bed 2-3 inches , it would be perfect.

Sounds like I need to get different set of ramps :(

Yeah, using 8' folding ramps, unloading my Sportsman 500 is a bit sketchy. Loading not so bad. I also have drive-on RhinoRamps to get the front bumper up over the crossover box.

I bought a 2-place echo trailer just so i didn't have to mess with it. So unless I need to go somewhere the trailer can't, it rides there.
