Hello all,
I have a 2018 RAM 3500 Dually. I’ve done all maintenance since her birth, minus the timing chain cover which was a Cummings recall. At any rate…Around 70k I did a full brake job (pads and rotors)to include full brake bleed (swapping old out with new).
Since the break job brakes felt squishy. I figured there was air in the lines but bleed them several times over and never once let the reservoir get low enough to pull air in. That being said I also borrowed a friend of mine who worked at Dodge his tablet which had the program on it ( name evades me) to allow me to do a ABS bleed and a brake pedal reset. All that being said still squishy brakes. I drove it for about 6 months figuring it is what it is. But a few weeks ago I had enough and tried bleeding the brakes again and low and be hold there was air in the brake lines. I did another thorough brake bleed; went through about 4 qt size bottles to ensure I had everything out.
Brakes started to feel better. I figured I got it. Nope. 2 days later started to feel squishy again. Bleed them again and they were good. Then again two days later squishy again. I’m at a lost.
No the fluid isn’t boiling as far as I can recall and yes I’ve been using DOT 4. I don’t drive or pull my RV with it much so I’m at a lost and I can’t see how my fluid would be boiling, which is the only conclusion that would make sense.
I’m aware of the ABS and HCU recall but my rig hasn’t kicked up any codes. Hope I didn’t just jinx myself.
Has anyone come across this happening?
No I don’t have any brake fluid leaks. Everything is clean as a whistle.
One would think something is letting air one but I’ve check over everything multiple times and nothing is lose and leaking.
Please advise/help.
Thank you
Tony
