Hey guys, my understanding is the Hemi tick is caused from idling alot and a design flaw that limits oil to some of the lifters at low rpm. I idle a fair bit with it getting as low as -40 here in the winter I believe the tick is less harmful than blowing the motor cause the oil is all sludge in the pan. So I was wondering if anyone makes a high volume/pressure pump for these engines? It seems to me that would help with the ticking issue.

You wont blow the engine from sludge if you are using the proper oil and changing it at regular intervals

I've seen it happen. When it's that cold it's harder for the oil to pump it. I know a few people who have seriously damaged their vehicles, I'm not saying every time it's gonna happen, and I'm sure there was probably other things that chipped in to cause it but my neighbor from before when I was still renting had it happen and he took very good care of his truck. Poor Diesel engines can't even start at these temps if you forget to plug them in.

Im from northern canada and a mechanic yes diesels can start at these temps if properly maintained we have hit -60 for a week at a time never an issue if you have the proper synthetic oil you will be fine

Just another side thought you may have the ability to put it in to high idle like the diesels when in park turn your cruise on and press the set button it will bring the idle to 1100 rpm that will pump enough oil for you

I'll try that in the morning.

6.4 trucks with pickup beds don’t have adjustable idle feature...6.4 chassis cabs do have it though.
