I ordered a standard rear window on my truck (see sig) because I didn't want the rear power-sliding window. If it was a manual-sliding window I would have added that option.

Any advice on a 3rd-party outfit that sells/installs a manual-sliding rear window? The Dodge Dakota I've had for 18 years came with one and I love it. I just don't want the electric version with the problems that could come with it.

I’ll leave my opinion at the door regarding wanting manual sliding RATHER than power sliding…. But I thought manual sliding was an option on lower trims…could you source an OEM manual slider?

If not, maybe see if CR Laurence makes one. I added a power sliding window made by CRL on my last truck

I'm probably being ridiculous being gun-shy with the power sliders, but I'm finding out I'm just an old-school dude.

You’re not alone. I’m going down a similar path.

Today I ordered a Mopar fixed window without defroster to replace my slider with defrost that came on my ‘22 Laramie. I have zero desire for any sliding window and prefer nothing on the back glass, just like my ‘06 SLT. I’m going to add tint to the window and tint on the defrost lines can create multiple reflections of headlights at night which just bugs me.

Just another dude making his truck just how he likes it.

Dang right! (Good tip on the issue with tinting and defrost lines.)

I ordered my truck without the power sliding window not because I wouldn't like having the option to vent with the window but because it was tied into other options that I didn't want.

After having it I do like the unobstructed view through the rear glass, especially when backing my trailer.

I'm pretty sure if you go on the ram site and build a cab and chassis, a manual sliding rear window is an option on a tradesman. So if memory serves me right it should have an OEM part #

You use your rearview mirror backing a trailer?

I like the power slider in the cooler months with a window down to get a breeze through the truck. It also helps to be able to crack the rear slider slightly to reduce that cabin air pressure when you have one window down and that annoying air pressure hurts your ears!

Also you can open the slider at night if your tint is to dark...some of you are so resistant to change!!

I think it might be either of these

I didn’t say it does, just that it can. I’ve never had a truck with defroster so the vertical glass probably does not have this effect has much as sloped glass in cars do.

Not once in almost 20 years of owning trucks have I wished my rear window opened.

Again... Just another dude making his truck just how he likes it.

Haha no, I use the side spotter mirrors mostly (with the mirrors flipped up) but there are certain scenarios where I get a better view of where my front passenger side trailer tire is by glancing over my shoulder through the rear window, like going up an incline backing to the blind side. Sometimes it's through the rear passenger windows that I can see directly.

I would actually love to have the rear slider window for all the reasons you stated, especially venting with only one window open. Just didn't alighn with the packages I wanted. I think when ordering my Tradesman it took away the vinyl floors/seats which I definitely wanted over carpet.

I have a manual slider on mine.
Like i said when i bought my 19 i never saw it offered…. But unless you have a Reg cab i dont see it being practical unless you have a heard of seamen demons in the back seat that can open it/ close it for you while driving. Everyone has their style i guess, to be honest i dont even see the power slider listed anywhere on my window sticker so i assumed it was standard before i came across this forum

I think the rear window is where the Toy-boys have it happenin. That design looks good to me as it has no bulky frame and no vertical frames blocking the view. If only the big three had such a design……oh wait they did back in the olden days of the 60’s and 70’s in station wagons and utility models. Some things from the old days were good….like me for example:cool:.

I got the manual sliding rear window. And have Semen Demons to open it. The solid rear window had got broken out and the manual slider was the replacement.

Got the manual slider on my 99 and 03 too. It works just fine. Was easy to reach from the drivers seat with the 99 and 03 was slightly harder. But the Crew Cab...it is a open the back door and crawl in to open.

Kids like to open it. And are very good at forgetting to close it

I had an 01 sports trac for a few months that had that it was great with a tiny box i could put longer stuff through the back of the cab without worrying about any window parts in the way
