Advice on quiet tires

I just changed out the factory-installed tires with Open Range A/T Plus tires from Les Schwab. LT275/70R18 size. The factory tires, Firestone Transforce, were very quiet and I was hoping for at least the same quietness with these new tires.
I live in the Pacific NW with mainly rainy winter weather, but I do 98% blacktop driving.

So I told the salesperson that I have sensitive ears (I'm 72 and have tinnitus) and want a really quiet tire. She said the best and quietest were the Open Range A/T Plus tires, so I went head and had them installed.

I just came back from a 300 miles highway drive and I must say the ride was much noisier than I remember with the other tires. Either my ears are becoming more and more problematic, or these tires are not what I was hoping for because I had to use ear plugs a lot just to keep the noise in my head at a manageable level. (Those with tinnitus can relate.)

For the tire 'experts' here, are the Open Range A/T Plus tires considered a quiet tire?

Any recommendations on the quietest tire I can get?
 
A/T tires will be inherently noisier than an H/T such as the Transforce tires due to the differences in the tread block, depth and distance between the blocks.

I've had Les Schwab do the same thing to me...once...and I never went back. I've been a diehard Discount Tire customer ever since.

What I'd suggest is that you look into a good H/T tire such as the Michelin Defender LTX.
 
As mentioned a good HT tire is what you need to stay quiet, realizing you’ll give up some performance on wet/snowy/icy roads.

A closed shoulder HT will be even quieter.

Cooper HT3
Falken HT02
Toyo HT2
Michelin Agilis

Lots of good quiet HT options. Make Les Schwab take those tires back. Like @MADDOG95 I’m no longer a Les Schwab customer, or Toyo customer, too many bad experiences with them.

BFG AT’s are not known for their quiet attributes.
 
The General Grabber HD the dealer installed when I bought the truck are wearing well and are very quiet.

Maybe not, but I can assure you that my KO3s are very quiet.

I’m not saying they scream, but they are on the noisy end of the AT spectrum. I never realized how much noise they made until I changed brands, and the difference was stark.

I’d honestly still be running them if they didn’t turn into slick rocks in the deep winter. They wore like iron.

Did you have KO3 or KO2s?
