So I have a 2019 with the safety group, but in that year the lane keep assist is a separate option. I'm sure I have all the needed hardware for the lane keep assist (minus the physical button). I'm betting that I'm just missing the software.
Has anyone looked at using AlfaOBD to add lane keep assist?

Thank you.

I don't believe that the "assist" part was even available for 2019. The lane departure warnings, yes.

Assist requires different hardware (smart steering) and is not just enabled in the BCM.

It can be retrofitted to a 2019, but aside from the button, you need the gearbox with torque overlay (68403512AD). That’s what makes adaptive steering possible, the haptic feedback for lane assist, and will be used once the HDs add trailer steering. Other than that, all the settings are there to enable it in the BCM.

Ah! Yes, you're correct. I meant the warning. I imagine for the warning it's a coding change.

Also curious about what setting turns on the lane departure warning.

Actually, you would be a good candidate to try out the warning only part of it. If I’m not mistaken, you just installed the radio that has the button for it? Or was it just the TCS button you gained?

Just the tcs button

Here’s all the settings for the lane assist system:
VehConfig 7 Lane Departure Warning Present- YES
VehConfig 8 Steering C Factor- Type 2
CustSetMenu 1 Lane Departure Torque CSM Present- YES
CustSetMenu 1 Lane Departure Warning CSM Present- YES
P/T Chassis Net EPS Electric Power Steering- ENABLED
I doubt that you could only install a screen/radio bezel that has the switch and just get the “warning” part of the system working. On the Rams, it only exists as an entire feature- lane departure warning with lane keep assist and adaptive steering. As far as I can tell, Ram has never offered just the lane departure warning portion of the feature. I would imagine if you only had the switch, as soon as you enable VehConfig 7 lane departure warning present, it’ll kick a lost communication with power steering control module, and keep the whole system disabled because it doesn’t see the steering torque overlay module.

Dang, I thought it would only use the cameras and sensors that came in the 2019 Safety Group option. Surprised to see additional hardware above and beyond that. Thank you.

Actually, I don't think that's correct for just the lane departure warning (not assist) that was offered as a separate option on 2019 trucks. Other than the button I don't think any additional hardware is needed if you already have the safety group. As long as the harness is already behind the dash for the button.

I can’t find one VIN of a fully loaded 2019 Ram that has a lane departure warning feature on the build sheet. Here is the 2019 HD sales book that has all options and sales codes (starting on page 40). There is no mention of a lane departure warning feature. https://www.cutterpearlcitychryslerjeepdodgeram.com/brochure/2019-Ram-Heavy-Duty.pdf
There’s also no such thing as a 2019 12” screen/ 8.4 radio bezel that has the lane departure activation button.
Only one way to find out if you can separate that feature from the rest and have it work- just enable VehConfig 7 Lane Departure Warning Present and CustSetMenu 1 Lane Departure Warning CSM Present, then see if you get a configuration mismatch fault in the BCM.

Tried setting these.

CustSetMenu 1 Lane Departure Warning CSM Present to YES - Failed. Service Not Supported In Active Diagnostic Session.
VehConfig 7 Lane Departure Warning Present to YES - Failed. Service Not Supported In Active Diagnostic Session.

Hey guys. Wanting to add lane keep assist to my 2019 2500. Would anyone have a schematic for harness 68485757AA? I need to figure out how to wire it into my truck. Thanks.
