Adaptive Steering

Anyone else out there have the adaptive steering system on their 2020 Ram HD? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Mine seems pretty loose, even at high speeds.

Have you tried using the different sensing and corrective settings?

It's not meant to be a near self driving system like Tesla.
 
Ive got mine set on most aggressive response with also between early and late ln activation. I like it as im a sight see er, no major problems yet. Even pulling, running around 80 seams to work fine for me

Never said it was suppose to drive itself like a TESLA, did I???????? Smart a$$!!!!!!
 
My Superduty had adaptive steering and I don’t recall an adjustable setting for it. It steers easier at low speeds like through a parking lot and tighter steering at high speeds like on a freeway. I assume the Ram system works the same way. I’m not talking about lane keep assist or it’s sensitivity settings.
 
RAM have always had the looser feel compared to the others. That's how they are setup.
I'm used to the RAM feel, I'm fine with it.

It's ok, I really miss the tight, heavier Sport setting from my previous Jeep GC TH.

...and the paddle shifters.

My steering pretty tight. Im pretty well known to make ln changes with out signal and it wants to fight me on it half way into the next ln. Of coarse most of my driving is done with weight attached , so it don't have the loose feeling. I do miss the paddle shifts but I've gotten used to having my finger on the minus button, and to get the most braking out of it, I'll hold down the minus and let it go as low as it will based on my speed at the time and either let it slow me down or gas on it and tack it back up through the gears.

I never had a vehicle with Lane Sense before and I thought my front end was out of alignment or something and following ruts in the road. Then it dawned on me that it didn't fight me if I used my signal when changing lanes. Duh.
 
Adaptive steering gives variable steering ratios dependent on vehicle speed. I love it, especially for a hd truck to whip around a tight corner or parking space. Some of y'all talking about autopilot are thinking Lane Keeping Assist.

You are absolutely right.

Adaptive steering is a package deal with Lane Assist so you get the electric drive. If the LA setting affects the adaptive steering, I don't have a clue. If it's like my Audi, it's only active at low speeds.
 
I had adaptive steering on my f250...... honestly didn’t care for it when i was backing up the boat down the launch ramp. Driving around the parking lot at work was pretty nice though.
 
Maybe shouldn't be asked here but can this be retrofitted into a 19 with blind spot monitoring and 360.camera all bells and whistles??
 
I was not liking it last night at the start of a 400 mile trip through the mountains until I realized how it was working and changed my conventional way of thinking and starting driving a bit different. you have to think you are pushing your truck harder then you actually are, once you start having confidence in this new way of thinking you suddenly realize these HD's are fun to driving. Hold smaller steering adjustments longer is about the only way I can describe it
