2025 Ram Limited Longhorn with the 14" touch screen and physical Recirc button on lower right side of screen. I understand the smarts behind recirculating the cabin air for the most efficient cooling. However, I don't understand the dumbness of not illuminating the Recirc light when it is on recirculation mode. Actually, it is dangerous. A prolonged use can lead to stale air and drowsiness. Any toxic gasses that may exist in the cab from fuel on gloves to chemicals in poorly sealed bottles, or, vision obscuring clouds of dust, smoke or vaporized vegetable glycerine, need to be evacuated. I'm fine with a system that starts in max mode to cool down the cabin, clearly showing it's in recirculation mode by illuminating the Recirc light. I'm not fine with thinking that I'm getting fresh air flow, with my window cracked or the moon roof tilted open, and being blinded by a vape cloud. I'm not fine with having to take my eyes off the road and my hands off the steering wheel for a few seconds, while traveling at high speeds in heavy freeway traffic, to visually locate and reach over and hit the button to "turn on" recirculation, seeing the light is lit, hearing and experiencing no change in airflow, then hitting it again, seeing the light is off (again) and hearing, feeling, and experiencing fresh air flowing in and out of the cabin. I'm also not fine with my interior surfaces and cabin air filter being saturated with dust, vape juice, moisture, etc. from not being alerted that the air is in recirculation mode. This also leads to early cabin filter replacement and/or increased smells from the filter and potential mold and mildew problems.
This issue needs to be fixed. I'm hoping someone reading this has an idea about how we can lobby for what could be a simple over-the-air software update. I imagine someone at Ram (Stellantis) would be interested in just fixing this annoying issue and not have to deal with a class action suit.
