2014 3500 srw 6.4. My trans temp has been fluctuating lately with no trailer load, in other words, empty. It will run normally at *168 and creep up into the *190's in the summer months. I'm in So. Cal where outside temps are +/- *115 right now. Climbing the grade up hwy 62 from the I10 yesterday, the trans temp reached *204 (keeping in mind I'm not pulling or hauling anything). While on the grades, the temp fluctuated between the *204 and *195. Once out of the grades, the trans temp stayed around *175ish. I usuall don't load up the 5th wheel toy hauler in the summer because it's too hot to be going anywhere other than the beach. Also last year while returning from Las Vegas on the I15 (empty) the trans temp rose to *201 then down to *190, outside temps then were low *90's. During the winter months I'm usally headed out to Glamis (Imperial sand dunes) pulling the 5th wheel toy hauler (13k ish loaded) and roads are relatively flat, trans temps run from the normal *168-low *180's. That I'm not concerned with that. My concern is with the summer months running empty and trans temps flucutating just over the *200 mark. Is this an early sign of trans issues? The trans was serviced by the PO a little over a year ago. I've put on approximately 7k miles on it since I bought it. it currently has 68k miles on it. Fluid still look new and at the proper level. I've been reading about the trans bypass eliminator kit for the 66rfe/68rfe. Most if not all my towing would be in the southwest outside summer months, but right now my concern is summer months empty with trans temps just over the *200 mark. Any comments on the bypass eliminator by those who have installed it, I'd like to hear your experience with trans temps in the summer and winter months, both loaded/pulling and empty. Thanks
