Hey, can you add the 5h wheel equipment to tow a trailer after purchase if it doesn't have one? Is there an issue with being equipped with a Ram Box and a 5th wheel hitch? I found the truck I wanted, but the 5th wheel group wasn't equpped and would like to add it. Thanks!

RAM says it’s incompatible but I am pretty sure a member here did the add with ram boxes just fine. I think clearance is limited but maybe the right hitch negates that. I would do a little searching. The B&W is a good option as well but I have no experience with their 5th setup as I only use the gooseneck setup in my life so far.

Love the idea of ram boxes for my uses with gooseneck.

I know when you try to build one on the configurator with Ram boxes and add the Gooseneck prep, it will want you to remove the Ram boxes and vice versa. You can add a B&W turnover ball system, but for a gooseneck. Not sure there is enough room to add the 5th wheel system. I'm sure someone on here will chirp in that has had this experience.

I know you can put rails and a 5th wheel hitch in it, in theory the puck system would work as its not wider than the 49” clearance you have, the biggest thing you have to do is find a hitch with a short release handle, you can also modify most hitches handles so it can be released in the smaller opening the ram boxes have, most release handles stick past the wheel wells of a normal box when the jaws are open….
