Anyone have a "distance to empty" reading after fillup with the 50 gallon fuel tank

I think mine was 573 at last fill? but I'm just running around town in break in and only getting like 10 MPG. About the same I expect towing my stuff. So the math kinda works. 10x50 = 500.

I think mine said 6 something after the dealer filled it up. Most of my driving was on City streets too. However I did drive about 55 miles to take my trailer to the shop on this tank of fuel. Here is a snapshot of the dash now.

Cant see your fuel gauge to see how much 281 miles is on gauge

Sorry about that, I went back out and My fuel and mileage gauge is way off as I was parked on a steep hill for a few hours, so I drove around the block and took this picture. I guess it may take another 15 to 20 minutes to get the fuel readings to get back to normal.

I wish mine had come with the 50 gallon tank option. I plan to do a Titan tank in the future. Wonder if there is a way to put the factory 50 gallon tank in after the fact, if one can even be sourced.

I just ordered the Titan 7030313 tank for my 2019 3500 Crew Long Bed. When I get it, I will post the outcome on setting the proper tank size in AlphaOBD.
Do you rig in the fuel lines from Titan tank into the truck's fuel line? Or does it work as a built in storage tank?

Replaces the factory tank

How big is the tank and how much was it? And is your a short or long bed truck?

When ordering mine, I looked hard to see if there was a larger tank option, but there wasn't, unfortunately.

It is supposed to hold "UP TO" 55 gallons, but I doubt that it will get over 50. It is for the crew cab long bed. I bought it from xtremediesel.com because of the best price I could find with free shipping. $1308.29 total.

Titan shows a 50 gallon for the Mega cab. 7030213

Yeah, the 50 gallon tank was new for 2020. That fact is what made me stop shopping leftover 2019s to order a 2020.

Installed my Titan 55 gallon tank yesterday. With 20 gallons in, the guage shows between 1/4 and 1/2 full. Now I just need to go out and change the tank size in the BCM with AlphaOBD so the DTE is correct.

I like that I holded back on the 19 for a 20 with a 50 gal tank. Now i just wish i was happy with 50, now I'm thinking an aux 50 added in bed for 100 . No matter how many gallons i have ill probably still get myself in the same situations.20200721_123307.jpg

So excuse my question as it may be a dumb one since I think I've over done it on the apple pie. As I mentioned, if I we're to get an aux fuel tank put it in my bed and secure it, all I was planning on doing was the simple gas line out the bottom to trickle into T- connection kit you put into fuel line. You guys talk about changing the tank size in obdll to calibrate your new bigger fuel capacity. How does the gauge/ system know how much fuel is in the aux tank portion to read out to you? Originally I figured the gauge would just stay on full until aux tank was empty. What am i missing here? Or is my friend missing here, he's really confused. Just asking for a friend.

Into what fuel line??? The feed from the main tank is pressurized, so you can't tee into that. What stops the fuel coming from the extra tank from continuing to flow until the main tank starts to overflow??? The only three possible sane ways is to have an aux tank in the bed with it's own fueling hose just like the stations use. Basically a portable fueling station. Or, a single extra large tank (like I did). Or a duel tank setup with a fuel switchover valve where each tank has it's own fuel pump and level sensor. In the BCM, there is a setting for fuel capacity that calculates the DTE based on current fuel level. DTE is NOT absolutely accurate, just an approximation of fuel consumption.

Attached is a picture of the setting in the BCM using AlphaOBD.
