4 wheel Drive engage problem

At first my 4 wheel drive wouldn't go into 4low. When it did, I could not get it out. 2005 Ram 1500 5.7 liter.
Any suggestions.

Manual or electric shift transfer case?

Stopped and trans in Neutral?

What kind of surface were you driving on?

Even if push button (not sure what year that began) you want to be rolling very slowly forward or back, in neutral, for the best shift. It should work standing still as well but might be more finicky if not in motion, even the slightest rolling helps.
