Couldn’t think of a good title. Essentially i’m adding some updates to my truck which means running wiring from inside the cab through the firewall into the engine bay and back and since that seems like a pain, I wanna make sure I do it all one time so below I ramble about what all I’m planning on doing to my truck
I already replaced the 8.4 for a UC5 12 inch with a harness I bought from @Jimmy07
I decided I wanted to convert my truck to be more like a night edition truck and the side mirrors i got have the cameras so I decided I'd like to do the 360 surround camera install. I have the camera for the tailgate and I’ve installed the camera for the grille. I got the module it as well to go under the drivers seat. I read the thread posted for doing the upgrade. that guy bought fakra cables pre cut to certain lengths. I was thinking about buying the cable and crimping the connectors to the cable so that I can make custom lengths....is that a waste of time? Hopefully not cause I bought the materials lol
I picked up the control unit for the factory powered running boards so I'd like to get or make a harness for that. I read about people buying the wiring harness for the 1500 and putting the module on the drivers area. Would you recommend that as the best way to do it.
I picked up a digital review mirror and chmsl that has cargo camera and rear view camera...out of a 2024 long horn. I got that white thing that is supposed to make it work without needing a bcm from a 2021. If this mirror is a 3.0 will it still work?
I got the headliner from the truck that had the 360 cameras for the night edition conversion and it has the cargo camera fakra built into it but it looks like it goes into the headliner harness. Any chance to use that or will my harness not have that wiring where the headliner plugs into the body wiring?
I got the adaptive cruise part for up by the mirror and the steering. I can't remember if people got that working or not and will need to review that thread again but do you recall if they did?
I picked up the cab lights for the roof so when I get the harness for the adaptive cruise I'd like to get the one that has the cab light wiring. Although I may not because I’m not sure about cutting up the roof.
I added the aux switches when I installed the UC5 12 inch but I haven't wired them so i need to do that as well. I’ve read the thread and watched the videos from the guy that installed it.
I'm kind of just rambling right now...thinking out loud. I have several things that will need wired up. It looks like a little bit of a hassle to wire through the firewall and getting access so I would kind of like to do it all at one time. For wires going through the firewall: I think it’s essentially three things: 1. there is the aux switch harness. 2. the camera wire from the front grill, 3. the running board harness to its module
can you think of anything else?
