Posted in my suspension post but figured I’d post this here for easy searching.

Installed Sumo Springs Rebel series in the rear today. Install was simple, only snag was filing some metal on a plate cutout for a bolt.

With my 1” lift in the rear from my Carli Add a Pack I think the spacing is too far and it’s not engaging soon enough. So for me there’s no sag support. They are just barely engaging but bouncing on the hitch the truck has some suspension movement now vs just a thud before. Sumo makes a 2” spacer but that may put me engaged at ride height. Towing tomorrow and will provide an update on if they smooth out the loaded ride in the rear.

Looking good, those should do the job nicely.

Actually didn’t do much at all, towed yesterday but because of the 1” lift they aren’t engaging soon enough to be effective. So I’m looking at options for a 1” spacer. Carli makes a billet 1” block spacer for the bump stop and then source my own longer bolts to use with the sumo mount.

So update on the sumos, they didn’t help. As I expected since the 1” lift from the add a pack they don’t engage soon enough to be effective. Carli makes a 1” block spacer for the bump stop then I can source my own bolt longer that works with the sumo mount. But measuring this morning the 1” block will have the sumos touching with no load. Which is the same issue with running my airbags is at ride height even with 0psi there’s pressure that builds and it creates resistance also. I’ve got the airbags back in and driving empty back to the trailer Wednesday and will compare the ride and then tow the trailer back Sunday and access. Only downside is the down travel the bags will limit or concern, but I don’t really off-road much.

Just another step, but at least there’s a easy fix out there.

You want them touching with load. You can also cut the bottom on an angle to ease the engagement. Just foam.

Yes but I don’t want them touching with no load and that’s what I’ll run into if I use the 1” bump stop spacers. So seeing how the airbags do before trying that out.

Any fab shop can make you 1” spacers for dirt cheap. It looks like a couple of 1/2 thick washers and a longer bolt per side will get you where you need to be

I can easily buy the 1” spacer, I’m weighing the option of running the airbags I already have and can adjust vs the sumo. If I do the spacer then I’ll need to cut the sump some so it’s not engaged at no load. Air bags I can just add in the daystar cradle to fix the downtravel bind in those instances. I even debate just throwing my overload leaf back in and the 1” leaf spacer block and not have to worry about any of it.

Bags and be done with it
