It seems like there a lot more aftermarket options for standard suspension as opposed to the factory rear air suspension. I'd like to possibly lift it 2" or so, but didn't want to get stuck with not being able to alter the rear ride heights without throwing some crazy codes or encounter some other unforeseen issues.

Anyone familiar with lift kits, factory air ride, and how it works?

There are tons of threads on here concerning lift kits, use the search function and you’ll get all the info you need. You can search for Thuren and Carli to start with, those are two of the most popular. But there are lots of other brands discussed as well.

I just ordered a Carli 3.25" suspension lift. I included the "add-a-pack" rear leaf spring option in the kit. It will add about 1.5" of height in the rear. There are a lot of options if you want to "bag" the rear end of these 3500's. From Kelderman's to Load Lifter...it all depends on the price you want to pay.
