3500 Dually with Rear Air - Can it ride as well as SRW with Rear Air Suspension?

Full disclosure - Many of us also follow other RAM forums, and you may have seen this question over there. I did not get any responses so I'm posting here hoping to get some thoughts.

I've managed to get a pretty good ride on my '21 CC SRW standard box 3500 when driving around town empty. It has the air suspension, and between that and adjusting rear tire air pressure I get a very good ride when not towing our 5th wheel. I'm just nudging the GVWR of this truck when we travel and I've started to look at Mega Cab Dually's. Wanting to see if you guys think I could get the same ride quality from a dually that also has rear air suspension? I'm thinking I could do the same lowering of tire air pressure on the dually (when driving empty) but then I start thinking about the dually having twice the number of tire sidewalls to deal with. I took a quick look at RAM parts sites, and it seems like they use the same spring pack on both SRW and DRW trucks equipped with Rear Air Suspension option.

My existing '21 CC SRW is my daily driver, and I have this fear of moving up to a Mega Dually and being sick about the ride quality.

Any thoughts?

I don't think my '22 air ride DRW rides noticeably worse than my '18 3500 srw with air, they are both harsh on speed bumps and highway transitions, but for 1 ton trucks they ride well.

I think my truck rides quite well. As compared to SRW with the same setup, not sure. But, I'm guessing your rear tire psi is 80? A dually is riding at 65. Not sure how or if that makes a difference.... four tires at 65 or two at 80, but maybe it does. o_O

The DRW will ride mostly the same as a SRW, but those extra sidewalks will have an effect.

Adjusting the tire pressure will be you best bet. 35 psi empty will really help the rears and is still enough air for a RAW of 6,280 lbs.

No need to run those pressures empty.
