Just looking for thoughts and opinions on this setup?

Truck: 2021 Ram 3500 Crew Cab Chassis 60" CA (Truck) (Build Sheet)
Chassis Mount: 12-16 hole Dog Box (Dog Box) 3-4K lbs

I've got a used Chassis Mount Dog Box semi locally that's be coming off a 3rd Gen 3500 dually. I'm totally ignorant on how a bumper pull trailer hitch gets attached to the chassis frame, I assume a bolt on hitch that will probably have to be custom to fit with the dog box. Am I going to lose some factory towing capacity based on how far back the hitch is located? Is there a common dimension that is referenced from say the axle to the hitch ball?

Not much more money to go to the 4500 is there a downside to at 4500 vs 3500 besides a stiffer drive? I'd probably want to have the ability to pull a dog trailer or Toy Hauler of around 8-10K lbs.

Am I going way overkill?

IS the dog box aluminum? You may want to ask the manufacturer how it mounts to the frame. I know some flatbeds utilize the existing frame mounted receiver hitch and some have built in receivers.

Our older 3500 chassis cab had a CM flatbed that used the factory hitch and it towed great.
