My truck should be arriving to the dealer in the next few weeks. First thing I'm doing is swapping out the stock tires with most likely Toyo Open Country AT3s. What I am conflicted on is 295/65/20 vs 35x12.5x20. The 295's measure 35.1 in height, and the 35's are 34.6 in height. The width is 11.8 vs 12.5. My big question is the load rating. The 295's have a 4080 load rating, while the 35's have two different options, 3195 and 3640.

My concern with the 295's is that the load rating is increased therefore ride quality will suffer.

My concern with the 35's are which one do I pick, and by all indications the width should be ok with no to minimal rubbing.

My use of the truck predominately is DD along with going on HD runs and to the landscaping company to load the bed with rock, dirt, etc. Though this won't happen often.

I'd like to keep factory wheels for now. I will say I am planning on a Thuren/Carli hybrid leveling system (Fox's most likely) within 8-12 months. Might as well get some use out of the factory suspension.

I am located in Buffalo, NY if that sways anyone's opinion. TIA

The way I understand it, if you go with a higher load rating you can decrease the pressure down to where the tires load rating matches the load rating of your stock tire and get a softer ride...please correct me if I’m wrong.

I used a tire pressure calculator on tiresize.com to calculate what pressure I should use in my higher load rated tires to match the stock tires load rating at the recommended stock pressure. Allowed me to drop PSI down quite a bit and gain a better ride without sacrificing towing.

Great feedback Squatch. Thank you. Running a lower PSI on the 295's could be a big gain in ride comfort.

The 295s on our truck do not rub just put on last Friday

based on your post history it looks like you have 295/60/20s. This thread was about the larger 295/65/20. Can you please confirm which you have?

295/65r20 will fit on stock wheels/ no lift. When i got my truck i had my wheels and tires mounted. wheels are 20x9 +20. I put them on the truck before i did the lift. On some turns they barely rubbed the plastic, but not enough to do anything with, That could have been fixed with an alignment adjustment. On a stock wheel with less offset you will fit them with no problem. Yes you can run them lower air pressure to get a little better ride if youre not towing anything. I have a 6.4 and am running minr 50-55psi.

I am looking at this same option with the NE wheels. Does your TPMS indicator stay on at 50-55psi?
