Hey everyone. I've go a really annoying rattle behind my dash. We mostly only heard it at first while towing with slightly higher RPMs. Now we can hear it while not towing. It sounds like it could be behind the radio area. I'm thinking about pulling it apart and seeing what I can find. Just wanted to post here to see if anyone else has had the same. I know this is slightly generic but figured I'd take a shot. Thanks.

Not good.. best of luck! I have a 21 Mega on the way, so here's to hoping it doesnt rattle. Nothing more annoying IMO.

thanks. I just went through the engine bay and found a few wire looms and what not that showed signs of rubbing. I zip tied them up, though I don't really think those would be loud enough to cause the noise. I also pulled the radio ect out. I don't see anything to the naked eye that appears loose or rubbing but with everything still out I'm going to take it for a drive and see if I can hear something. It bothers me but it really bothers the wife. Since we are a week or so away from leaving on a 16 day trip, I'm hoping I can figure it out otherwise it will be a long 16 days for me :)

had part of my heating system that was metal touching something else and caused an awful rattle. Took forever to figure it out. had to pull the dash to fix. Sounded like it was coming from the center of the dash.

Could be it. I tore the dash a part and most of the wiper area. Never found anything per say. Zip tied more cables and tightened every screw I could find. Took it for a test run and seems to be gone. At least I couldn’t make it do it like I could before. Towing the camper in a few days. That’ll be the real test.

My 2019 2500 just developed a rattle coming from the factory CD player. When I push against the front of the CD player the rattle goes away immediately. As soon as I remove the pressure the rattle returns. I never use the CD player and never will. I’m thinking about removing it.

Just a quick update on this. I removed the cd player. While I had everything torn apart, I also found a cable that was rubbing against a piece of plastic so I repositioned it. Happy to report that the rattle is gone and the truck is quiet again from inside. There is a good video on YouTube about how to remove the center dash and center console to access everything. It seems a little intimidating at first but its not that bad. Two screws hold in the center dash containing the 12” screen. After removing the those two screws the entire center section pulls straight out with a firm pull. The center console is held in place by 6 bolts. Remove them and the entire center console will slide back to allow access to the cd player and usb ports. It took me about two hours to complete the job.

This is great info, thank you for following up!! This will help someone im sure.

Slightly old now but still chasing this. I’ve got the radio area and behind torn apart and also all the wiper area. Still rattling. Sounds like just right of where the radio is further in the dash. Looking at how to pull the glove and upper storage box to access that area better. It pretty much rattles all the time now. Gets really old listening to for hours on our trips…lol
