Hey guys, hoping someone knows a thing or two :)

2026 rebel over here with the auto folding mirrors. Today was our first day of cold winter and one mirror froze folded in. So I did turn off the button to auto fold them in going forward for the winter but it got me thinking. My old truck was a 2019 Big Horn with manual folding mirrors. You could just hit them hard to break the ice. If someone smacked the mirror they’d fold forwards or backwards … so with this truck … if they are not tucked into the side and someone pushes the sideview mirror towards the front bumper, will it break it ? If the mirrors freeze and I press the fold button will it break it ? How strong are these mirrors ? How flexible are these ?

Thank you for any and all opinions and guidance !

So when I first got my ‘23; hadn’t had it but a few weeks; I had a ‘22 before with the moose ear mirrors and had been through the drive through atm before and didn’t think about pulling my mirrors in. Pulled in like normal thinking I had enough room and with my passenger I smacked the atm on the passenger side, sounded like you could just hear the teeth of the plastic gears clacking against one another. After a few choice words, I pulled forward past the atm. At first I thought about getting out and trying to push the mirror forward but I was still in the drive through and my big butt wasn’t going to be squeezing through a small opening. So I mashed the button to fold them in, driver side folded in and the passenger side, you could hear the motor working, as soon as it caught up to where the mirror was at, it clicked and pulled it the rest of the way in and I have had zero problems with it since. So I would like to think the engineers figured something like that would happen and designed them to not bust if something like that happened.

Thank you so much for that ! This is the fanciest truck I’ve ever had and I’d like to keep it decent shape as long as I can. I really appreciate you taking the time :)
