I looked and couldn’t find any info on how to remove the factory sub in my Mega Cab except my 2022 WSM which was vague or if it would give any codes on my 2026 3500 Limited. I found the factory sub on my 2022 Bighorn pretty much useless and today I found the same on the 2026 3500 Limited Mega Cab after playing Get Your Roll On from Big Tymers while unplugging and plugging it back in as a test for subwoofer testing usefulness.

So the removal process started as I wanted to gain the storage where the subwoofer was as storage is limited on the Mega Cab. I have not gotten any CEL over removing the subwoofer all day but gained a bunch of storage space.

1) Remove the 3 10mm nuts with large washers inside the storage box and on top of the subwoofer.
2) Push back on the spring loaded closeouts to expose the 4 13mm nuts 2 per panel and remove them and remove driver and passenger closeouts off the back of the seats and remove them from the truck.
3) With the closeouts out of the way lift up from inside the storage box at the back of the cab on the top of the storage box that holds the sub next to the cab wall and the box will lever forward from the top, disconnect connector to subwoofer before removal.
4) Once it levers out away from the cab you can lift it up on top of the seats and remove it from the truck.
5) Remove top cover #2 Phillips screws and lids and remove the subwoofer from box, re-install cover lids #2 Phillips screws and re-install back in truck minus the subwoofer and tuck wire in safe space from subwoofer. Enjoy the extra storage space.

It's the only song that I have that has the most bass to test the useless subwoofer they provide us in these trucks, so it had to go for the storage as it was pretty much useless in sound. Here is a pic of the subwoofer out of the box as it takes up 2/3 of the space in that box structure.

I just removed my sub box this weekend to work on sound deadening the back wall and C pillars. Because I want more bass in my truck, I am actually preparing to replace the storage bin with an actual aftermarket sub in a box. I have a laramie level 2 with the harman kardon system and I have seen many posts about the HK system being TOO much bass, and while I would agree that the highs and mids sound decent, anything under 100hz is just not there.. What I was the most disappointed with is how much this is touted as a high end system, but if you read the part numbers on the door speakers and the sub box itself, it literally has mopar and alpine on there. Yes, H/K has allowed Stellantis to put their name on the speaker gills, but this is not H/K system, seriously.

Also the fit and finish in my Ram was horrible. Some of the trim pieces were not fully clipped in, I had 2 broken clips because they were not lined up correctly before someone shoved them in (I saw this truck unloaded from the delivery truck because I ordered it and took posession with 15 miles on the odometer). I counted 7 or 8 wire harness retainers that were not pressed into their corresponding holes in the cab (not doing this will cause mystereous buzzes and rattles when low freq waves hit them. Also, my closeout flaps didn't lay flat on the passenger side either (they sort of do now that I spent lots of time adjusting the mounting bolts.

Also, by storage box looks different than yours. My Driver's side box has a vertical divider in line with the lid edge and a full floor. Why does yours have such a large cutout on the driver's side?
