2025 Towing temps

Hi, towing a 13k lb gooseneck trailer the other day. Ambient Temps of around 90-95F. I was noticing that average engine temps on level highway was like 205-208 and would climb up to like 216f on the grades. (~5-6% for a few miles)

my '19 HO would easily tow this kind of weight on level highway at like 194-196 engine temps. I just wanted to to see what others are seeing on engine temps while towing flat or grades?

on a positive note, the trans never got above 160F which is a solid 8 degrees cooler than my AISIN.

Those are normal, on my 2024 HO I got 220 on coolant on some grade in Idaho/Montana pulling 16K.

The other couple with has a 2025 and they saw similar temps.

Honestly the temps on the ‘19 seem low, unless your EGR cooler was MIA.

The 19 6.7 (13-24, haven’t verified the 25 yet) use a 190° thermostat that cracks open at 190°, goes full open at 207°, and has a max allowable temp (from Cummins) of 225°. Hill temps are pretty normal at 215-218°. With the EGR cooler any decent towing, even on flats, get it up above 207° pretty easily and takes a while for it to cool down. Get the EGR cooler out of the equation and it takes a good load to even get to 207°.

great info thanks. I thought the T stat fully opened at 190 but if it's 207 then... Alright thanks for the intel guys.
