2025 RHO or 2025 Power Wagon

I was waiting on the 2025 Power Wagon and start to look at the new RHO reviews. Cost wise these are about the same as a loaded Power wagon but it looks like it has more features. I know this might cause some intresting dicussion here but I wanted to see what people thought about comparring the RHO to the PW? I am going to be doing some light to medium offroading and possably pulling a small RV. I am still leaning towards the PW, but that RHO looks tempting.
 
I don't need a new truck but was looking at some similar options.

I was also look at a 1-2 year old used TRXs for comparison too. These are definitely not apples to apples comparisons and the three trucks are built for different purposes but I do feel like with all the updates that come with the 1500s you are getting more for your money in a way.
 
It really depends on your needs. The PW has soft suspension and thus lower payload and towing capacity than the other HD trucks, but it’s still an HD underneath. That means it’s got a 6’4” bed, and is going to be able to run all day pushing at max power without breaking a sweat.

The RHO has it beat in power, but it has an even softer suspension, a 5’ bed, and if you try to run it at max for an extended period of time it’s going to get hot and start pulling all of its power, and then things are going to start wearing out. It’s also 6” wider than a PW.

The PW is for doing some rock crawling and overlanding, and a bit of “truck work”.

The RHO is for blasting across open desert and dunes, and occasionally picking up a few bags of potting soil at Lowes.

The RHO will also make a much more comfortable daily driver, but those wide hips are going to make some parking spaces and drive-throughs a pain.
 
The biggest differences are HD vs light duty, and capable vs crazy capable off-road. The reasons I chose the PW over a Rebel or fun RHO;

1. The PW is based on a platform to tow up to 17K, and I have done 15K despite its low rating of 10,500. If you need to tow weight with an off roader, the PW is the way to go.
2. The size is perfect, that shorter bed is no fun.
3. Front locker and winch factory, I only buy triple locked trucks
4. Solid front axle and overall durability will far exceed the 1500s

If you do not need that front locker, solid axle and HD strength, or to tow heavy stuff on occasion an RHO would be a blast.
 
When I went looking for a new RAM, I wanted a TRX.
But with a $50K mark up over MSRP, I coukdnt justify it for what you got.
Buddy told me to look at the Power Wagon. I ordered a '21 75th annavisary Power Wagon that came with more options stock than the TRX for a lower MSRP.
3 years and 80K miles later and I still love it.
 
Thanks, this helps and makes a lot of sense. I need to just order this PW and move on. I do wish they would have added a HUD to the 2025. Ford has it, and GMC has it... I test-drove a 1500 Limited that had it and thought it was cool. I wanted to be a fighter pilot when I was a kid and this would be the closest I would ever get to that. It's not a have-to-have kind of thing and in the long run, won't make that much difference.
 
Ive been reading a lot lately about the RHO -- what a bad ass truck. Im a sucker for boosted straight 6's so I imagine this thing will be a blast. If youre a tuner type of guy, ive read that Berger motorsports already got 104whp out of the RHO with their piggy back software. Crazy.

I read the RHO will tow 8k lbs, which if accurate, is probably pretty close to what a PW will do?

RHO will make a better daily driver, softer more comfortable, faster, tons of creature comforts.

IDK... I'd like to pick up an RHO! Mark Dodge will do an RHO for $10k off MSRP on orders...... Hmmmmmmmmmnm

Be careful what you wish for. My wife's Jeep has one, and yes, it's nice.
I don't know how it is in your neck of the woods, but glass damage is a constant issue here due to rocks thrown up, mostly on the interstate.
And the HUD-windshield is about twice what a normal windshield is.
Yes, your insurance will cover both, but be careful here: I recently wanted to switch insurances, and only got outrageous quotes. The reason? Too many claims. Even though they were all glass damage, so no fault of ours, they still count them against you.
 
Go to rho-forum. Had a 25 rho on order and it shipped. Backed out last second because of all the issues people are having. Wait a year or two. Keeping my daily Durango hellcat and ordered a 25 mega to replace f450 tow pig instead. Two years I’ll replace hellcat with rho if they work out the bugs. Hope the new Cummins does better then rho with all these changes.
 
RHOs look pretty badass and are very much so badass. I went power wagon because I’m poor and I plan to keep this truck for at least 10 years.. the hemi is proven and the hurricane is constantly said to be a complex motor, not a knock per say, but it is also brand new and I don’t know how I feel about taking a truck way out in the boonies that has no dip stick. Not saying never, saying I don’t think yet.

Same thing sort of for me. Only it was a Raptor. A dealer asked for a 10K bribe, I walked out the door and bought a Power Wagon in 2017. As a matter of fact, I would never ever go near that dealer again. Turned out I needed the durability and capability of the PW anyways. Even though I have had problems, some has been improved since 2017 and I feel like in this world of new, poorly made vehicles its good to stick with what you know.
