I have a 2025 Ram 5500, took delivery on Nov.12/25. P2482 code and de-rated on Nov.24/25. And out of service. No replacement part available until mid Jan. I can’t believe how unreliable this combination has become. It seems that Ram has no issue forcing loyal clients to absorb the losses created by a defective product. I get it! It’s the EPA regulations that create these issues, but Ram/GM/Ford have had 15+ years to figure this out. Having no parts to repair is purely a failure in leadership, no excuses!!

HDFarmer:
What specific replacement part is not available?
When you state "de-rated on Nov 24/25"---what does that mean?

I hope you get it going sooner than expected!

Bank 1 , Sensor 5. To the best of my knowledge it is the final sensor and module after the SCR. Part #68602151AC

ok.... by doing a quick search appears to be an "Exhaust Temp Sensor"---This part number ends in AB--rather than your AC, but is probably the same part.
You would think the stealer (I mean dealer) could take this sensor off another new truck on the lot--get you going--then put the part on their truck as soon as it comes in.....

I was just on the phone with the dealership, all 2025/26 models 3500 and up use this new sensor. Dealers can’t order this part without Corp. approval, seems like quality control measure. They could only scan and send report to Corp for approval. Part is then ordered for them. Dealership does not have new 3500 to take sensor from or even if that is permitted, I don’t know. We are still exploring that option though.

That would be the right thing to do. Then that would make the truck they pulled the part off unsellable and they would not make money on it. They’ve made their money on the truck they sold to the customer, if the customer is without his truck while he waits on a part, pffft, not their problem.

Yes this is crushing blow to our day to day operations. I was sold on the idea that the new design was going to bring back some of the reliability of this combination! I was mislead and I assume my own accountability for making a bad investment. The question now is how much is this lesson going to cost me, lessons cost money and good one cost a lot. We can only demand more reliability, but it gets drowned out by the little creature comforts that never increase productivity of what once was a working man’s truck. Truly sad and don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed.

HDFarmer,
I hate to see you label the purchase of this 2025 RAM to a "bad investment". Yes, I know it has to be VERY disappointing at the moment--I get that it means a cut in your bottom line--not good. This faulty sensor does NOT mean this will be a lemon truck!
I personally did a LOT of research on the 2025 Ram's before buying---are they perfect? No, but the redesign of the Cummins, new ZF tranny, new turbo, improved SCR system has a LOT of positive points that I think will result in a solid platform. I realize the 2025's have not "proved" themselves yet, but so far, they are looking strong overall. ALL of the HD Diesel truck brands have issues.
Meaning once you get this sensor replaced--I would think you will have a strong truck that will bring you years of good service!

I’m always going find myself leaning towards a Ram and if I can put all of feeling aside my message is that “Loyalty is a two way street”

Several years ago I got a DPF code on my 2012. So I threw a new sensor at it. $400+ in Canadian Tire money later same problem. I asked the dealer how a little sensor can be worth that… they said because the plastic bag has Cummins on it! I dunno, should have put the money towards a new Sawzall which eventually solved the problem.

Haha! No weight loss program for me, too many scale crossings and fines and impoundment to costly. The current configuration requires more attention to maintaining the Egr system because that’s where the real damage can happen. I think this is the first year for these sensor having attached modules. The modules doing the calculation for the ECM. Without having an old part, the sensor is a thermo resistor with a small circuit board inside the module measuring potential difference. I suspect that a very small component like a resistor or a diode has popped on that board. But yes the price is extreme for a sensor
