On my 2020 diesel I would hear the DEF recharging after shutting down. On my 2025 3500 I hear nothing, not a sound whatsoever. Anyone else experiencing the same? is this some new type of charging that is silent?

I haven’t heard the term “DEF recharging”. These trucks make lots of noises after shutdown, so what is DEF recharging or charging?

After shutdown you would hear a number of clicking, which I always thought it was re-charging the system.

The system isn’t pressurized after shutdown and there isn’t a “charged” container. It works like a in-tank fuel pump and pressurizes the line to the injector.

Ticking from the injector is likely allowing the line to drain back to the tank so it doesn’t freeze solid or crystallize as much in the injector tip.

So is the body control module returning fluid [ purging ] back to the tank or lines? I was just surprised not to hear it on my 25.
