I hope I can save someone a headache here. I have a 2024 Ram 2500 Laramie with 496 miles on it. Yesterday I cleaned it and started getting ready for an upcoming trip. This morning, I jumped in it, and it would not start. It cranked the engine over and seemed OK, but it would not actually start the engine. I was not a happy camper. I jumped into my 08 Ram and went to my dealer and explained. My service guy asked me if I pulled the floormats out when I was cleaning it. YES! He said when you put the mats back in, make sure the mats are under the gas pedal, and not on top of it. He said quite a few people were complaining with the same problem. I ran home and sure as can be, the mat was on top of the gas pedal. I pulled up out and slid it under the pedal and it fired right up! No idea in the world why this would matter, but it does. Hopefully I can save someone a trip to the dealer with this info. I know I will always check this out in the future.

On GM gas cars holding the pedal to the floor cuts off the fuel flow to the injectors so you can clear a flooded engine. Some people also use this procedure to crank the engine to get oil circulated through the engine before it fires. Perhaps this is something similar.

Thanks RKCLR! That actually makes sense. There should be some type of PSA or TSB or put it in the owner's manual or something so people would know this. I'm sure 99% of us are clueless to this quirk.

Yea thats to clear a flooded engine. But I did not think that many people could not put floor mats in right! Lol I have been seeing many of these posts lately. Glad you have it figured out.
