I have an opportunity to pick up a 2024 Laramie 4x4 for 65k. You can check out the sticker, but it MSRP's for about 83k.
This truck has sat on the lot since Sep of 2023, has less than 100 miles. It has basically every option I really want, including a spray in bedliner.
Been wanting to step up to an HD truck from an ecodiesel, is this my best option?
Should I try to talk them down on the price any further? Taxes and fees would bring the OTD price to about 70k. Or should I just spend 6-7k more and get a 2025?

Appreciate your feedback!

Buy it. I have a 24 mega cab 2500 Laramie I bought in June of 24. I paid 70,719 not including tax/title/shipping to me. You’re getting a good deal imo. Here’s my window sticker for reference.

Looks like a decent price. If nothing else, I stepped up from an EcoDiesel as well (still have it for light duty) and am amazed at the difference in towing. I loved the Eco while using it with my TT all over the West, but man the high temps and low towing capacity (it is a 2018) not being an issue anymore makes me kick myself for not just going HD in the first place. Good Luck!

Same, mine's an 18 and it's been a great truck actually. This is totally a WANT and not a NEED, which is why I'm struggling with this decision so much!

Gotcha. Are you going to keep the Eco? I sure like mine for light duty and long trips, but I'll tell you what, you don't know how much better the HD is at towing, until you do. :)

No, I'd sell it. And you're right, for light duty and long tips it's awesome (which is basically all I do). It's paid off, no issues and only 52K miles. But dang it, that HD itch is bad!

For me, if it is a want and not need as you say, I would pay extra for the '25 with he updated motor and NEW transmission. I have a '21 3500 and do not need the '25 3500 I have ordered lol. My 2 cents.

Yep, I've driven the 25s and they are awesome - in fact, I drove this exact truck back-to-back with a 25 a couple weeks ago. The results were closer than I expected, which has got me questioning if the 25 is worth the extra cost for basically a daily driver.

If you buy it make them change the oil & both fuel filters as part of the deal...
I personally would rather do it myself than have someone else do it. Plus, with filters from Geno’s that is only 111.40 for both fuel and oil filters (if using all fleetguard) excluding the 3 gallons of oil. If anyone snagged Delo xsp5w40 from AAP when it was on clearance oil changes cost me 44 dollars including the price of an LF16035. I grabbed 6 gallons. Just my opinion.

Being the oil is now some 20 months old I would not drive that truck off the lot, btw asking it to be changes as part of the purchase IMHO is a no brainer

Buy it, thats a very good deal. I paid $64k for my 24 3500 HO in July 2024, sticker was $76k and I think at the time, that was a fair deal. Even if I had it to do over again knowing what I know of the 25's so far, I'd still buy the 24.

You started this thread for advice and all we're doing is confusing you more.... "Buy it! Don't buy it. Get the 25! Buy the 24." LOLOL

That oil is fine to drive the truck home to wherever op lives. But, he could surely ask for them to change it. I wouldn’t make that a stipulation on an otherwise good deal though.

While it probably is, @56ram2500 makes a good point, as the owner's manual specifically states that engine oil should be changed at either 15k miles or 1 year intervals.

Yeah, I also worried about DEF crystallization as well, with it sitting for so long. The truck I have now has given me zero issues so I’m nervous about getting this new one and it start throwing codes and have to go through the hassle of dealing with warranty claims, etc.

I have serious doubts the engine ever got warmed up often or long enough to burn off the condensation in the oil, my I see no reason to risk driving any where being I know the dealer will change the oil as part of the deal if asked, I did that on my 06 Dodge 2500 CTD, I also did the same on a new 2021 Toyota Highlander I bought for my wife that had 9 month old oil in it...
