Hey guys, just picked up my truck this week. Everything was great until around 200 miles I started to get a loud chirp from the belt area on a cold start. It goes away after 15 minutes, increases with RPM, and doesn't change with AC on or off. To me it sounds like a bad bearing in a pulley or maybe a belt issue since it seems to go away when warm. Anyone experience something similar?

The dealer I bought it from is 2 hours from my house. They offered to come pick it up and give me a loaner, but I don’t really want someone driving my truck that distance. I did make an appointment at a local dealer for next week.

Nothing like spending 72k to have problems 200 miles in

Edit: video of the noise

My 23 had the same thing when I bought it new. I suspect Its the tensioner and had it for a short period of time. After a couple of weeks It happened less and then it was gone.

We are sorry to hear that this has been your experience, Sal. Our team would like to investigate this matter further. Please private message us with your concerns, as well as the dealership you're working with for further assistance.

That's metallic, not like my "belt squeal" that was fix by a TSB that replaces the (painted) dampener with a polished one. (Machining was probably improved).

Sounds like a bad idler pully bearing to me.

Update: today I noticed oil on my concrete garage floor under the truck. I got under the truck and saw this oil leaking from what appears to be the rear main. Now I am wonder if the crank is walking or something like that. Anyone experience a leak like this? Truck has 300 miles on it now. IMG_8150.jpeg

Thanks Chris. Message was sent.

Here is a video so others can hear the noise.

I heard this exact same noise on my 23 two times. It was when cold but only did it for 20-30 seconds, It had 2k miles. It has 5k miles now and never heard it again.

Did you ended up taking it to the dealer?

Yes, they said it was the belt. 10 day wait to get a belt in stock, but I just got it back and put 300 miles on it. Seems that the noise is gone for now. Still skeptical, but time will tell. They said the oil was just the anti corrosion, so they wiped that off.
I would leave the belt alone. Several of us experienced the same thing when new and it went away on its own after a couple of weeks. No issues since and I am at 23k miles now.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. They did change the belt after waiting 10 days. It appears to have fixed the noise.

Just an update, the belt was replaced at 600 miles. The noise seemed to go away until 800 miles when it slowly came back. I now have 2000 miles on the truck and this is what it sounds like

I made another appointed for 3 weeks from now. The noise still sounds like a tensioner or idler pulley to me.
