Hey everyone, looking for some advice.
I recently bought a 2023 RAM 2500 Laramie with 29,000 miles. Purchased it on January 2nd, and about a month later I got a check engine light. I scanned it and it’s related to the DPF/DEF emissions system.
The truck is still under the factory warranty, and I also bought an extended warranty (engine & trans) to 110,000 miles.
Use case:
Is it smarter to keep the warranty and stay stock, or try to refund the warranty and delete the truck to avoid future EGR/DPF problems?
Random question:
Is driving every day with the full exhaust brake on bad for the truck? I’ve heard it can actually help prevent the turbo actuator from failing, but I’m not sure if that’s true.
Appreciate any real-world experience or input.

Use case:
- Daily driver
- Occasional towing
- Heaviest load will be a car trailer with a side-by-side and dirt bike, roughly 5,000 lbs
- These trucks are very reliable if deleted
- The motor is solid
- The transmissions can have issues, but with light towing and daily driving like mine, it seems less common
