Hello I was wondering if anyone knows how to change the interior 115V outlets to battery power and not on acc/ignition power? I run starlink off these outlets and dislike having to always idle my truck/ have to reboot everytime the acc power times out.

Thanks!

The inverter appears to be controlled over CAN, so it’s probably not possible. You’re likely best off getting a small separate inverter that’s just enough to power the Starlink.

Also, be careful you don’t kill your starting battery with that thing. If you’re running it a lot you may want to add an aux battery setup to handle it.

The inverter module itself is triggered on with ignition power. The problem with putting it on constant battery power is when the truck is off, it would be active and constantly waking up all the other modules on the bus that are supposed to be on battery power, but know when they’re supposed to be asleep. This behavior will drain the battery in short time.

Honestly your best bet is to power starlink off of 12v power instead of taking the conversion losses of using the inverter. If you are drawing alot of 12v power with the truck - i.e. running stuff like starlink for a few hours or longer with the engine off - I would look at an aux battery setup with a DC->DC charger so it's isolated from your main battery(s).

Thanks for the replies! Very good information. I was just looking for an easy "plug and play" type solution without wiring an additional inverter. Running the starlink out of my truck isn't super common and can work around these issues. Thanks again for the help, I didn't realize that inverter itself was on key power.

How do you like the StarLink? I am considering for our house as we do not have access to cable for internet etc. We currently use a wireless type service that is local but the speeds are limited since we do have a clear shot of their antenna from the house.

I work in the oilpatch in Canada, very remote locations, and the company has bought them for all consultants with resounding success across the board. That being said its not the most download/data heavy work but I routinely see speeds of 60-130mbs. We use the RV models with no fixed address/ no contracts but a $170/mnth charge. With the drop in hardware price ($199 now) I really don't see much downside to them, I even picked one up for the wife when were camping and I'm at work lol.

Man, I wish that $199 hardware deal was available in the US.
