Hello, im wondering if anyone has had this issue or if its a common issue on RAM 2500. I recently traded my 1500 for a 2500 and it was used with 42k miles. The RAM was fine then one morning I drove about 15-20 miles for work pulling a trailer with 2 mowers. As I got to the second house everything was good then I turned on the truck and was typing out a message to the homeowners for a job. I received a beep with an alarming message of over heating and it was at 255 degrees. It started doing this when I turned on the A/C and I noticed it making a weird noise in the dash as if something was trying to turn on and making a weird humming sound. I checked my fuses and the Rad Fan Hi/Lo fuse was blown so I replaced it thinking that would solve it and nope. I then checked the coolant reservoir and noticed some sludge in the very top. Its now at a local dealer, dropped it off Thursday and now they are saying they may not be able to diagnose it till Monday. I requested for a loaner but they said its only if warranty covers it. Is this overheating issue a common thing with the 2500’s? I know it is for 1500’s on the 5.7

Not common at all. Should be interesting to see what they say. Who knows what those last 42k miles entailed, hopefully they didn’t pour some stop leak in there for some reason. Also no long term damage from the fans not functioning.

IIRC, if you mix the OAT coolant with non organic coolant it will create sludge. That may be what your pic shows. Maybe someone had over heating problems and added the wrong fluid?

Yeah… i’ve seen some in fb groups where people talk about finding like residue or something from when the vehicle was first machined but idk this looked a little like sand/oil & antifreeze mixed.

For my 1500 it was a little similar but WAY worse.
